MIDLANDS STATE UNIVERSITY HARARE PROGRAMMES FOR THE JANUARY 2016 INTAKE – WEEKEND SCHOOL

Applications are invited for admission to the following programmes offered in Harare during weekends for the January 2016 Intake.

VISITING SCHOOL

A. FACULTY OF COMMERCE 1. B Comm. Accounting (Hons) –3 years. 2. B Comm. Business Management (Hons) – 3 years. 3. B Comm. Marketing Management (Hons) - 3 years. 4. B Comm. Insurance and Risk Management (Hons) - 3 years. Applicants for 1 - 4 must; - Have at least 5 ‘O’ level passes including English Language and Mathematics. - Be holders of a Diploma, or HND or any related qualification in any of the above disciplines. - Be employed in a field related to the above disciplines. - Have at least two years working experience after attainment of a Diploma or Higher Diploma. - Submit confirmation letter of employment from the employer. 5. B Comm. Economics (Hons) - 3 years. Applicants must have any of the following; - Diploma in Statistics/Education. - Institute of Bankers Diploma. - HND/ND in Businesses Studies/Accountancy/ Purchasing and Supply/Marketing/Computers. - Institute of Administration & Commerce (IAC). - Institute of Personnel Management of Zimbabwe (IPMZ). - Diploma from the Institute of Real Estate. - Institute of Marketing Management (IMM) Diploma. - Diploma in Business Administration (ZIM). Or ‘A’ level passes plus Proof of Employment. 6. B Comm. Banking and Finance (Hons) – 3 years. Applicants must have any of the following; - Diploma in Banking and/or Finance from any recognized institution. - Institute of Bankers in Zimbabwe (IOBZ). - HND/ND In Business Studies or Accountancy or Computers. - HND/ND in Institute of Administration and Commerce (IAC). - Diploma in Business Administration (ZIM). - Diploma from the Institute of real Estate Agents. - Diploma in Education or in Mathematics or in Statistics. OR ‘A’ level passes. At least two years work experience in relevant field and submit proof of employment. 7. B Comm. Retail and Logistics Management (Hons) – 3 years Applicants must have any of the following: - Diploma of Institute of Bankers - HND/ND in Business Studies - HND/ND in Accountancy - HND/ND in Purchasing and Supply Management - Diploma in Education - Institute of Administration and Commerce (IAC) - Institute of Personnel Management Zimbabwe IPMZ Diploma - Diplomas of the Institute of Real Estate Management - Diploma in Business Administration (ZIM). OR passes in any two ‘A’ level subjects At least two years work experience in relevant field and submit proof of employment 8. B Comm. Tourism and Hospitality Management (Hons) – 3 years. Applicants must have: - Diploma in Tourism or related fields.

MASTERS PROGRAMMES

1. Master of Commerce in Accounting – (1½ years). Applicants should have an Honours degree in Accounting with a degree class of 2.1 or better, and confirmation of employment from the employer. Three years post working experience in relevant fields is required. 2. Master of Commerce in Banking and Finance – (2 years). Applicants should have an Honours degree in Banking and Finance, Economics, Accounting or their equivalent. Other four year undergraduate degrees can be considered provided that (i) the applicant has at least 3 years practical experience in Banking and Finance and (ii) the applicant has over and above the degree, a full diploma in Banking and Finance. 3. Master of Commerce in Economics – (2 years). Applicants should have an Honours degree in Economics, or related field. 5. Master of Commerce in Strategic Management and Corporate Governance – (2 years). Applicants should have an Honours degree in Management, Accounting, Human Resources Management and /or other tertiary qualification approved by the department. 6. Master of Commerce in Marketing Strategy – (1½ years). Applicants should have a good Honours degree in Marketing, Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Supply Chain Management or any other degree plus an appropriate professional qualification (e.g. IMM, CIMA). 7. Masters in Business Administration – Block Release (2 years) Entry Requirements. . Be at least 25 years of age. . Be a holder of at least a second class degree or its equivalent awarded by Midlands State University or any other recognized institution. . Have at least (2) years of relevant experience. . Provide two references from reputable people certifying their ability and suitability to undertake the programme successfully. . Submit a statement of purpose, stating why they would like to pursue the MBA programme.

8. Executive Masters in Business Administration (EMBA) – Block Release (18 months) Entry requirements. . Be at least 35 years of age. . Be an Executive of their own business or has been a manager for at least five (5) years. . Be a holder of at least a second class degree or its equivalent awarded by Midlands State University or any other recognized institution. A holder of a third class degree or its equivalent may be admitted only after providing evidence of academic maturity in the desired field of study as shall be judged by Faculty Post Graduate Studies Committee.

Degree programmes 7 and 8 are accredited with the Association of African Business Schools (AABS), therefore are internationally recognised......

B. FACULTY OF ARTS . 1. Master of Arts in Development Studies – (1½ years). Applicants should have an Honours degree in History and Development Studies and Economic History or related field. NB. C. FACULTY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

1. Master of Science in Information Systems Management – Block Release (2 years). Applicants must be holders of an Honours degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or any relevant qualification with a strong programming background. NB. Complete an official application form, which can be downloaded from this website, (www.msu.ac.zw ). Application forms can also be obtained from the Admissions Office at Midlands State University upon payment of US$20 for Zimbabwean applicants and US$50 for foreign applicants in the normal application category. The completed form should be accompanied by an original deposit slip of the application fee (US$20) or by a receipt from the Bursar’s Department (MSU). The Application fee should be deposited into the Midlands State University, FBC BANK ACCOUNT 1037535960530 Gweru branch (Indicate the code 101 on the deposit slip for application fee). Cheques, Telegraphic Transfers and money orders will not be accepted. Application forms should be submitted at the Management Training Bureau, in Masasa along Mutare road. Application forms must be accompanied with certified copies of Educational Certificates, Birth and National Identity Certificates.

NB. Midlands State University does not have third parties who sell application forms around the country on its behalf.
