A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in honor of the Gentleman from Graves 2, Representative Fred Nesler, upon the occasion of his retirement from this Honorable Body following almost two decades of service. WHEREAS, Representative Fred Nesler was born on August 2, 1944, in Foley, Alabama, to Norman and Ruth I. Smith Nesler. Currently, he is a farmer, builder, and realtor with Chapman-Nesler Real Estate. In 1978, the Mayfield-Graves County Board of Realtors honored him by naming him Realtor of the Year. Representative Fred Nesler is active in his community where he is a member of the Mayfield/Graves County Chamber of Commerce. He supports and serves his community through his membership in the Mayfield Rotary Club; and WHEREAS, Representative Fred Nesler represents Graves County and a part of McCracken County in House District 2. He first ran for election in 1992 and the people of House District 2 have re-elected him knowing that they can rely on Representative Fred Nesler. Currently, he serves as the vice chair of the House Appropriations and Revenue Committee, and as vice chair of the House Budget Review Subcommittee on Transportation. Additionally, he serves on the House Agriculture & Small Business Committee, the House Economic Development Committee and the House Veterans, Military Affairs & Public Safety Committee. Furthermore, Representative Nesler serves on the House Rules Committee. He also serves on the Tobacco Settlement Agreement

Fund Oversight Committee; and WHEREAS, Representative Fred Nesler is dedicated to the betterment of the lives of the people in his district and has always participated in policy reforms that improve the lives of the people of Kentucky as a whole. Throughout his legislative career, Representative Fred Nesler has supported many legislative initiatives to improve the lives of farmers. As part of his service on the Tobacco Settlement Agreement Fund Oversight Committee, he helped to negotiate the distribution of tobacco settlement dollars. Representative Fred Nesler worked very hard for the economic development of Graves

County and McCracken County to secure funding for the Purchase Region Industrial Park and for other capital projects to provide for jobs and industrial development in his district. Likewise, he sought to improve the quality of life of Kentucky's veterans and their families by looking into the problems of the veterans center in Marion, Illinois. Another goal that he has worked for is to make homes safer for the children of Kentucky. Finally, he has shown his dedication to improve the system of postsecondary education and to ensure that teachers' salaries were more competitive with other states; and WHEREAS, Representative Fred Nesler, works very diligently to assist all of Kentucky's citizens. In 2001, he worked on legislation to assist individuals with disabilities to enjoy full partnership in all programs and services throughout the Commonwealth. Just this session, he is sponsoring a bill to provide for a brownfields redevelopment program; and WHEREAS, with deepest respect, admiration, and gratitude, this Honorable Body pays tribute to Representative Fred Nesler and his lovely wife, Tammy, six daughters, ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, for their dedicated and outstanding service to their community, their district, and the state of Kentucky. Representative Fred Nesler has exemplified the best in public service, and will continue to serve the people of the Commonwealth in his future endeavors; NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

 Section 1. The House of Representatives expresses its congratulations to Representative Fred Nesler upon his retirement from this Honorable Body, and extends sincere gratitude for his service to his community, his district, and the Commonwealth.

Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in honor of the Gentleman from Graves 2, Representative Fred Nesler.
