Members Present: Debra Gehris-President, Brock Thomazin-Vice-President, Wade Gilkey-Secretary, Sean Davis-Treasurer, Andrea Deckard and Chester McVay Members Absent: Wayne Countryman Administrators Present: Gwenda Barton, Rory Henry Administrators Absent: Christina Bowers

Board President called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Roll call vote (6-0): Brock-yea, Deb-yea, Sean-yea, Chester-yea, Andrea-yea, Wade-yea
Motion made by Chester McVay and Wade Gilkey second, to approve tonight’s agenda. Motion carried. (6-0)
Motion made by Chester McVay and Andrea Deckard second, we approve the consent agenda, items a,b,c,d as follows Motion carried (6-0): a. Action on the minutes b. Action on the bills c. Approve the following positions for the 2014-2015 school year: a. Counselor as homeless coordinator b. High School principal as safety coordinator c. Elementary principal as ELL/ESL/LEP/Migrant/Title 1 coordinator d. School Nurse as wellness coordinator e. Superintendent as the district’s nondiscrimination laws compliance officer f. Deana Creed, as acting Secretary to the Board of Education for filing purposes d. Surplus Property
Motion made by Chester McVay and Wade Gilkey second, to approve the resignation of Arletta Long as cook. Motion carried. (6-0)
Motion made by Andrea Deckard and Sean Davis second, to approve the new cook hires, Becky Creed and Shannon Hejna at the step 1, salary scale of $9.53. Motion carried. (6-0)
Motion made by Wade Gilkey and Chester McVay second, to allow the Superintendent to file and or submit all necessary Federal and State applications to the appropriate agency/authority in accordance with school board policy, code CGC “State and Federal Programs Administration.,”. Motion carried. (6-0)
Motion made by Wade Gilkey and Sean Davis second, to approve the Assurance Statement that states as a condition of receiving funds under the No Child Left Behind Act, the local educational agency certifies that no policy of the local educational agency prevents or otherwise denies participation in constitutionally protected prayer by students or employees, as detailed in the guidance provided by the U.S. Department of Education. Motion carried. (6-0) Motion made by Sean Davis and Andrea Deckard second, to consider motion for board members to utilize conflict of interest policy and financial disclosure statement as outlined by MSBA policy BBFA. Motion carried (6-0).
Motion made by Chester McVay and Andrea Deckard second, to approve the bread bid to Bimbo Bakery aka Earthgrains for the 2014-2015 school year. Motion carried (6-0).
Motion made by Sean Davis and Chester McVay second to approve the milk bid to Hiland Diary for the 2014- 2015 school year. Motion carried (6-0).
Motion made by Wade Gilkey and Chester McVay second, to approve school bus routes for the 2014-15 school year. Motion carried. (6-0)
Motion made by Chester McVay and Sean Davis second, to rent the Barn House facility in Republic, Mo at $250 per day for baseball and softball. Motion carried (6-0).
Motion made by Sean Davis and Andrea Deckard second, to upgrade the District’s ball field facility. Motion carried (6-0).
Motion made by Chester McVay and Andrea Deckard second, to consider the high school baseball team to become a member of the Springfield Area Baseball Association (SABA). Motion carried (6-0)
Motion made by Andrea Deckard and Chester McVay second, to close and adjourn open session meeting. Deb-yea, Sean-yea, Chester-yea, Andrea-yea, Wade-yea, Brock-yea. Motion carried (6-0).
