Hines 7 DDN: l:\council\bills\swb\5562djc01.doc 8 DPB: 20010606 9 SUB: Lamar High School Silver Foxes Boys Track Team, Resolutions 10 11 12 13 HST: 14 15 Body Date Action Description Com Leg Involved 16 ______17 House 20010606 Introduced, adopted 18 19 20 Versions of This Bill 21 22 23 24 25 TXT: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A HOUSE RESOLUTION 10 11 TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE THE MEMBERS OF 12 THE LAMAR HIGH SCHOOL BOYS TRACK TEAM ON 13 WINNING THEIR THIRD CONSECUTIVE CLASS A STATE 14 CHAMPIONSHIP SATURDAY, MAY 12, 2001, IN COLUMBIA 15 AND WISH THE TEAM MUCH ATHLETIC AND ACADEMIC 16 SUCCESS IN THE FUTURE. 17 18 Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives applaud 19 the Lamar High School Boys Track Team for winning the Class A 20 State Championship meet Saturday, May 12, 2001, and 21 congratulate the young men on an outstanding season; and 22 23 Whereas, the Lamar “Silver Foxes” won their third consecutive 24 state championship this year with an astounding total of one 25 hundred-seventeen points, forty-eight points over the second place 26 team; and 27 28 Whereas, the team really worked together to secure the state 29 championship title early in the meet, unlike the last two years 30 when they won the title in the last event. Not only did the team 31 have strong returning members, but they relied on newcomers to 32 make up the difference and widen the margin between Lamar and 33 their opponents, scores; and 34 35 Whereas, the team had five first place finishes: Shon Shuler in the 36 110 hurdles, Christian Hudson in the pole vault, Derrick Higgins in 37 the 400 meter and the 200 meter, and the 1,600 relay team. 38 However, the majority of the points scored by the “Silver Foxes” 39 were not first place finishes; and 40 41 Whereas, members of the 2001 State Championship Team 42 included Shon Shuler, Marcus Fox, DJ Gilmore, Ramel Lyde, AJ
1 [4266] 1 1 Allen, Fred Gambrell, Jesse Hall, Maurice Johnson, Richard 2 Robinson, Emmanuel Dobson, Derrick Higgins, Shawnta Mack, 3 Rick McFadden, Mario Mack, and Jonathan Thomas. These 4 young men were led by coach Charlie Poole; and 5 6 Whereas, the House of Representatives congratulates the members 7 of the Lamar High School Boys Track Team on their 8 overwhelming victory in the Class A State Meet, their third 9 consecutive state championship, and wish them many more stellar 10 seasons. Now, therefore, 11 12 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 13 14 That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of 15 South Carolina, by this resolution, commend and congratulate the 16 members of the Lamar High School Boys Track Team on winning 17 their third consecutive Class A State Championship Saturday, May 18 12, 2001, in Columbia and wish them much athletic and academic 19 success in the future. 20 21 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 22 Lamar High School. 23 ----XX----
