Otter Creek is south west of Louisville, Kentucky near Fort Knox. We will be fishing the creek within Otter Creek State Recreation Area. There are about 4 miles of fishable water that is stocked by the state at multiple locations. There will be approximately 3000 Rainbow available. The local clubs also stocks trophy size rainbows; 1200 Lbs up to 20 inches The water we will be fishing is catch and release only, no bait or scent. Catch and release will end on March 31st.

Orientation - Casting Clinic – On the Water Instruction

This trip will be perfect for new members or beginners: For those interested, we will have an orientation at Bass Pro’s Fly Shop on Thursday March 5th at 6:30 PM to talk about this trip, answer questions and discuss equipment needs.

Also for beginners we will have a brief casting clinic at 1:00 PM on the Thursday of the trip at the Cabin Area. In addition we will have “on the water” instruction at that time as well.

This is not to replace BUFF’s Comprehensive Fly Fishing Classes. It is a “Quick Start” for those new to Fly Fishing. Date & Travel Information The trip will be Thursday till Friday with overnight in the Park cabins. Because of the possibility of below freezing temperatures and/or high water there are two dates: March 12 – 13 or March 19 – 20. If the first date is not good we will go to the second date. I will communicate the trip status via email using the BUFF on-line trip reservation functionality. You must be flexible. I would expect to know about 4 or 5 days before each proposed date.

Arrive on Thursday about noon to check in and fish. When you arrive, meet me in the cabin area; I will give you your parking pass and access code to the gate.

 I suggest a group dinner on Thursday after fishing. There is an El Camino’s Mexican Restaurant only 8 miles west in Brandenburg. Please note that there is also an El Camino's in Radcliff which is East. Meet at the one at 2320 Bypass Rd. Brandenburg, KY 40108 Phone number - (270) 422- 3110

Friday Morning at 8:00 AM we will have Orange Juice, Coffee and Donuts (as well as a more healthy alternative) to eat in one of the Cabins. You may want to bring some snacks and certainly anything you want to drink including your favorite alcoholic beverage.

Fish some on Friday then depart for home.
