Holden Technical College in North 26 Carolina, where she received her secretarial associates degree; and 27 28 Whereas, Liz began her career in the courts working for a law firm 29 in Edgefield. In 1979, she began working as an assistant to the 30 Honorable Sue Roe, Clerk of Court for Aiken County; and 31 32 Whereas, during Liz Godard’s tenure as Clerk of Court, the Aiken 33 County Clerk of Court and its staff earned a reputation for being 34 honest, dedicated, dependable, and efficient in assisting citizens 35 from all walks of life; and 36 37 Whereas, in addition to serving as Clerk of Court, Liz Godard was 38 appointed to the South Carolina Court Administration Clerk’s 39 Advisory Board and the Legislative Steering Committee and the 40 Steering Committee for the S.C. Association of Clerks of Court 41 and R.M.C. She was a member of the S.C. Association of Clerks 42 of Court and R.M.C., S.C. Association of Counties, National

[392] 2 1 Association of Counties, National Association for Court 2 Management, American Correctional Association, Clerk of Court 3 CFS Committee, and Aiken County Safety Committee; and 4 5 Whereas, Liz Godard is a resident of Aiken, South Carolina. She 6 married Luc Godard in 1987. Between them, they have four 7 children and seven grandchildren. Liz attends Cedar Creek Church 8 and enjoys spending time at her place on Lake Murray, visiting 9 with family and friends, and supporting the Salvation Army 10 Homeless Shelter and the Aiken County Animal Shelter; and 11 12 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are grateful 13 for the legacy of leadership and service that Liz Godard has 14 bestowed on Aiken County and the State and appreciate her long 15 and enduring service to the residents of South Carolina. Now, 16 therefore, 17 18 Be it resolved by the Senate: 19 20 That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, recognize and 21 commend the Honorable Liz Godard upon the occasion of her 22 retirement as Aiken County Clerk of Court and wish her continued 23 success and happiness in all her future endeavors. 24 25 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to 26 the Honorable Liz Godard. 27 XX 28
