Smith 7 DDN: l:\council\bills\dka\4548mm01.doc 8 DPB: 20010605 9 SUB: Tammy Smith, Resolutions 10 11 12 13 HST: 14 15 Body Date Action Description Com Leg Involved 16 ______17 House 20010605 Introduced, adopted 18 19 20 Versions of This Bill 21 22 23 24 25 TXT: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A HOUSE RESOLUTION 10 11 RECOGNIZING TAMMY SMITH, EIGHTH GRADE 12 TEACHER, ON THE HONOR OF BEING SELECTED 13 TEACHER OF THE YEAR AT 14 LANGLEY-BATH-CLEARWATER MIDDLE SCHOOL IN 15 AIKEN COUNTY, AND ENCOURAGING HER TO CONTINUE 16 HER TIRELESS DEDICATION AND CONTRIBUTIONS TO 17 HER STUDENTS AND HER SCHOOL. 18 19 Whereas, Tammy Smith has been voted “Teacher of the Year” at 20 Langley-Bath-Clearwater Middle School for 2000-2001; and 21 22 Whereas, the eighth grade teacher’s dedication to the academic 23 pursuits of both her students and herself are without peer at her 24 school; and 25 26 Whereas, she is continually reaching for higher standards of 27 accomplishment for both her students and herself; and 28 29 Whereas, the tireless teacher is both firm and flexible in her 30 classroom and her extracurricular activities; and 31 32 Whereas, she serves as Eighth Grade Team Leader, Eighth Grade 33 Discipline Team Leader, Student Council sponsor, and member of 34 the Miss LBC Pageant Committee, as well as jumping in to 35 volunteer on an ad hoc basis for fundraisers, assemblies, and 36 special programs; and 37 38 Whereas, Tammy has been recognized as a recipient of the High 39 Flyer Award and has had the honor of teaching the winner among 40 the ten thousand entrants in the Respect Teen Contest; and 41

1 [4249] 1 1 Whereas, the Teacher of the Year also is a certified judge in the 2 South Carolina Junior Olympic Boxing Program. Now, therefore, 3 4 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 5 6 That the members of the House of Representatives, one of whom is 7 her proud father-in-law, Representative J. Roland Smith, do hereby 8 recognize Tammy Smith, eighth grade teacher, on the honor of 9 being selected Teacher of the Year at Langley-Bath-Clearwater 10 Middle School in Aiken County, and encourage her to continue her 11 tireless dedication and contributions to her students and her school. 12 13 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 14 Mrs. Smith. 15 ----XX----
