NJ EMPLOYERS SEEKING BPI CERTIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYEES The State of NJ recently announced the availability of grants to employers seeking to train and certify new or existing employees for selected certifications from the Building Performance Institute (BPI). Applications are due September 8, 2010 and programs will start after October 1. BE READY FOR CONSUMERS’ LEAD-SAFE PAINT QUESTIONS The EPA is launching a consumer awareness campaign that encourages homeowners to hire lead- safe certified contractors. To be ready for any possible questions you may be asked about the EPA Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule, view a Consumer Fact Sheet here. Print ads and PSA radio messages also are posted on the EPA Web site. Under the rule, any contractor who disturbs more than six square feet of lead-based paint on certain pre-1978 buildings after Oct. 1, 2010, must be Lead-Safe Certified.

Construction Financial Managers Association Luncheon – October 13, 2010 CFMA would like to meet interested financial people from construction firms to lay the groundwork for establishing a SJ chapter. CFMA provides useful information on taxes, human resources, payment, credit, and fraud issues. This free luncheon is geared towards helping your bookkeeper and/or your financial officer.
