Scholarship Honors Missouri Aviation Advocate

The Missouri Airport Managers Association (MAMA) and the Missouri State Aviation Council (MOSAC) are now accepting applications for the $1000 scholarship established in memory of long time aviation supporter Bob Stuart, former manager of the Malden, Missouri Airport and one of the founders of MOSAC.

This scholarship is awarded annually to a Missouri resident enrolled as a student in an aviation- related curriculum at an U.S. college or university. Its purpose is to help defray tuition and related expenses. The recipient will be selected from among the applicants who have met the eligibility qualifications outlined on the Missouri Aviation website at www.missouriaviation.org. The application period closes on February 15, 2011. The scholarship recipient will be notified mid-March regarding the details of the award.

Bob Stuart was known throughout Missouri as an advocate of General Aviation and a leader among airport managers. He was known to frequent the halls of the Capitol in Jefferson City where he would spend time with various legislators outlining the economic impact that General Aviation has on the state’s financial health.

The membership of the Missouri Airport Managers Association is comprised of the managers from all 132 public and private use airports around the state. Its purpose is to promote professionalism among its members through continuing education and by meeting semi-annually to network.

The Missouri State Aviation Council is an organization that was established as a communication vehicle between the various aspects of aviation. Membership is open to any group or person who is interested in promoting a healthy atmosphere for aviation in the state of Missouri.
