FAB FOUR Very well done to Dunbrody quartet of Shannon Mernagh, Diane Cummins, Mark Daly, and Martin Moylan who all were victorious at the Scottish Bowhunter champs last weekend. Held at the Border Reivers 3D course, this competition attracted archers from all over the U.K as well as the Irish contingent. The two day shoot consisted of no less than 100 3D targets per day. According to the four Irish representatives, it was an great trip, thoroughly enjoyable with many memories. Reports suggest that some of them were relieved to return home with intact arrows. Shannon in her last cub action finished winner of CFBBR with 935pts Diane finished 1st in AFBHR with a score of 970pts while Mark finished 1st in AMBHR with 1195pts. And last but by no mean least Martin was victorious as first guest in AMFU with a fine round figure of 2000pts Again well done to all, an impressive result for club, country & IFAF.

HISTORIC EVENT While Dunbrody were flying the flag for IFAF in Scotland, John Shiel (Warbow) and Andy Vagg (independent) were doing the same at the Scorton 305th shoot in Sheffield. Although the duo did not pick up any medals, they did acquit themselves well and were extremely satisfied with their performances and they enjoyed the trip immensely. For those who have never heard of the Ancient Scorton Silver Arrow competition, it is a historic event incepted in 1673, held annually and is one of the oldest recorded competitions in Europe. It consists of shooting 100 yards at roundels on straw butts in an open green area. Hundreds attend this annual event which culminates in a formal dinner but unfortunately for the fairer sex, it is a male only tournament. The Ascham Silver Arrow Tournament is a similar event open only to women. note: It is also not open to compound bows... So why not put this in your calendar for next year, it is a unique competition not quite like other events which we have become used to. Well done John and Andy.
