There is another meeting today.

Make sure students going to high school and middle school are actually going to the schools they are supposed to go to.  Feb 23 training for middle school from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm  Feb 24 training for high school from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm

Tom Burris  lack of water cancelation days – Teachers come in for half days for Pd, etc.  Snow days – time depends on several factors; cafeteria preps meals at 5:30 am, buses start around 6:00 am and the auto dialer needs on hour to an hour and a half. Look at several factors prior to delaying or canceling school. Roswell was supposed to only get an inch of snow.  PED Legislative Priorities – Mr. Burris is in Santa Fe today for the meeting. Raises for teachers is an issue he will bring up.  Cash Fund – Governor will now be looking at taking cash reserves down to 5% and not 8% that we anticipated. This will directly impact the District. The state is also looking at a change in ERB money with teachers having to put more into their own retirement.  Principals Advisory Council – Similar to SAC but through Principals. This will help in the effort to improve communication. The principals form their own advisory council, meet at 8:00 am before the regular monthly admin meeting at 9:00 am. Then on the following Monday meet with the cabinet to debrief the cabinet.  IF you have the School Board Members and downtown admin on your school letterhead please make sure you this list is complete and correct. Let Holly know if you need the list.  Change of date for the January SAC meeting – January 24, 2017  District Calendar – more complete master calendar in one place instead of several individual calendars  Admin meetings  District activities and athletics – will add an activities calendar  Mr. Burris will be out of district January 17-19, 2017

Tamie Pargas/Brian Byrd 1. Be sure that your secretary has created a “preferred list” in Aesop for substitutes at your site. Each teacher can/should have their own preferred list – subs are complaining that they are not being called – however, to me that’s not a “bad” thing. 2. Please remind your secretaries how to answer your phones – i.e. “Good morning, you have reached Roswell High School – this is ... (please give their name!) 3. Updated 2015-16 evaluations – NMPED has reviewed the list that we sent them. Most of them did not change. Those that did will be given to the site principals to sign, date, have the teacher sign, make copies and return the original to HR. We will replace the old for the new in the Personnel Files. 4. Emails going out...  Retirements and resignations – we need letters not just notice please  Course/grade level changes (we do still need the Action Forms as well) – this has become very important – we must have licenses and course codes 100% correct for testing!  Internal “freeze” for transfers lifted from Monday, March 6th through Friday, July 7th. Yes, they must still do a transfer form, apply, interview and be offered the position.  Remember – you need to have a transfer form, and have reviewed Personnel Files (sign off on them) BEFORE you interview internal candidates. THEN, please (once HR has notified you that your recommendation has accepted), please call all those that you interviewed and thank them. 5. Please encourage your staff whose licenses expire in June of this year to get the license renewed before the crunch time (May and June). Just send them to HR, and we will help them. They must wait until Feb., but I would get it done before the end of April. 6. Please help us to remind all teachers about the dossier class that is offered free to all RISD teachers! It will start up again on Wed., January 18th from 6-8pm in the Central Office Computer Lab. These are not mandatory – nor do teachers need to attend every Wednesday, or stay for the entire two hours – but they pretty much guarantee that the dossier will be approved. 7. You will be getting survey monkey addressing the PPP. It will come from Dr. Romero’s office. The board would like more input on the PPP grant.
