Work Study Position Number 39840 Position Title: Website Developer and Research Assistant Term: 2014-2015 academic school year Employment: Carleton Work Study Program, Posting Number 39840 Positions available: 2 Length of employment: September 2014 to April 2015 Location: VSIM room 5221 and HCI room 2115 Hours: Up to 15 hours per week to a maximum of 192 hours Pay: $13.00 per hour plus 4% vacation pay

Qualifications:

The main requirements are sensitivity and respect for First Nations, Inuit and Metís values and cultures, familiarity with website development, organizational skills, interpersonal and communication skills, and willingness to work occasionally after hours during events.

Also, applicants must have a certificate of approval from the Awards and Financial Aid Office’s Work Study Program.

Job Description:

The primary responsibility of this work-study position is to assist CIRCLE (the Centre for Indigenous Research, Culture, Language and Education) at Carleton University in the creation of materials that promote this Centre and the work of its members.

Among the tasks will be to work with CIRCLE's other research assistants to continue to develop a website at Carleton University that profiles Indigenous scholarship and culture. The completed website will feature the research of Carleton faculty, Indigenous scholars and students. Also, the site interconnects these various resources and fosters collaboration and respect for Indigenous communities, researchers, students and staff.

The work-study students will also assist with other CIRCLE initiatives that engage Aboriginal community members, profile Indigenous cultures and showcase Carleton’s Indigenous researchers and student initiatives. These will include a speaker series during the year and CIRCLE's second annual day-long student conference at the end of the 2014-2015 academic year.

The work-study students will report to CIRCLE Co-Directors Anna Hoefnagels and John Kelly
