Welcome to Mrs

WELCOME to th 4 Grade with Mrs. Myton September, 2015

Dear Students and Parents, I am excited to be part of the staff at Washington Elementary School! This is A GREAT PLACE TO LEARN! I have my Bachelor’s degree from LSSU, my Master’s degree from MSU, and have been teaching in the Sault Area Public Schools for 18 years. I am looking forward to getting to know you this year.

Fourth Grade is an exciting and challenging year. The curriculum is demanding and requires more independent work than in the past. Students will have their first experience with a team taught curriculum---science is taught by Mr. Brown, and Social Studies by Mrs. Myton. A strong connection between school and home will be important for student success. To achieve this we will use planners to stay organized and informed. Students, please show your planner to a parent or guardian every day. Parents, please review and sign the planner weekly, and encourage your child to complete all assignments. The planner also provides a place to exchange teacher/parent/student notes. You may also access school information via the Washington School monthly newsletter and website, as well as the Sault School District Website and On-Line Parent Portal. Finally, PLEASE SIGN UP SOON FOR REMIND , a simple online tool that I use to keep families informed and up-to-date via text or email messages. See REMIND information on the back of this letter.

Our school district uses the MiBLSi / CHAMPS programs to address school-wide and classroom discipline. We will thoroughly learn and review academic and behavioral expectations, as well as classroom procedures, at the start of each marking period. We will all work hard to maintain a positive and orderly environment where everyone is safe and able to learn. My expectation for student behavior is that every student will behave safely, respectfully, responsibly, and be ready to learn each day. As needed, I may contact parents, the principal, or other concerned staff at Washington School in order to best address discipline issues that persist.

Students are welcome to bring their own school supplies; however, I will also provide the shared classroom supplies listed below. Desk and classroom storage for extra supplies is limited, so please do not bring large or unnecessary items. Here is a list of supplies you may choose to bring to school this year.  Pencils, pens, highlighters, dry erase markers (low odor), erasers, crayons, glue sticks, scissors, colored pencils, markers, ruler, protractor, lined paper, graph paper, 9.75” x 7.5” lined 100 sheet composition book, 9”x12” pocket folders. (Please -- no toys, large binders/Trapper-Keepers, permanent markers or liquid white-out.)  Donated boxes of tissues, disinfecting wipes, or other supplies for shared classroom use are gratefully accepted throughout the year.

I am looking forward to a great year! Please feel free to call, text, or Email me any time. Please leave a message if I am unable to answer your call.
