SMART PEN BASICS

The smart pen provides a tool for someone to use notes and audio recordings that are in sync. Some of the ways this can be used are as follows:

The teacher might do another reader read the test ahead of this.) time and write it on special paper. The -Eliminate the need for a private room. Tester test taker can click on the number and can use headphones to listen. it will read the question aloud. The test - Student can listen to the question as many taker can repeat the question as many times as needed with no shame or perceived times as needed. inconvenience to reader.

5. CPD STAFF uses pen for staff - Those who can’t attend meeting have meetings and outside meetings. access to entire recording as well as attendee notes. - Future detailed review of what was said

That staff member can concentrate on participating in the discussion instead. - Staff member can re-listen and add to notes later. New notes will be in sync with original recording.

METHODS OF SAVING THE DATA Smart Pens can be uploaded to computer easily and saved to PDF files (readable by Adobe Reader which is available free to all users.) These PDF files contain both the student’s written notes and the audible lecture. They can be saved on Desire2Learn or emailed as attachments or saved on the student’s flash drive. Smart Pens can also be sent directly to the Dragon Naturally Speaking software and a typed transcript can be created automatically. This does require a 4-minute voice profile be taken from the lecturer ahead of time. This is the only preparation work needed. (I have not personally tested this feature except with a digital recorder, not with a smart pen.)
