<p> SMART PEN BASICS</p><p>The smart pen provides a tool for someone to use notes and audio recordings that are in sync. New notes will be in sync with original recording.</p><p>METHODS OF SAVING THE DATA Smart Pens can be uploaded to computer easily and saved to PDF files (readable by Adobe Reader which is available free to all users.) These PDF files contain both the student’s written notes and the audible lecture. They can be saved on Desire2Learn or emailed as attachments or saved on the student’s flash drive. Smart Pens can also be sent directly to the Dragon Naturally Speaking software and a typed transcript can be created automatically. This does require a 4-minute voice profile be taken from the lecturer ahead of time. This is the only preparation work needed.
