Brisbane’s Living Heritage Network’s Early Career Bursary 2013 for attending the South East Queensland Museums Conference 2013

GUIDELINES & APPLICATION FORM

One bursary is available for an early career individual who is currently living in the Brisbane region to attend the South East Queensland Museums Conference 2013, at All Hallows’ School, 547 Ann Street, Brisbane, from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 October 2013.

The bursary will also cover the cost of the recipient attending the conference day sessions and for one ticket to the welcome reception, if the recipient would like to attend.

Only individuals who can demonstrate that they are in the early stages of their careers within the cultural and heritage sector and who are living within the Brisbane region are eligible to apply.

Eligibility criteria  An individual who is in the early stages of a career within the cultural and heritage sector.  Must be currently living, studying or working/volunteering within the wider Brisbane region.

Selection criteria Priority will be given to individual applicants who demonstrate;  how the opportunity will contribute to the individuals professional development  how knowledge and skills acquired during the conference will be shared within the cultural and heritage sector of Brisbane region.

Application process To apply, complete the BLHN Early Career Bursary 2013 application form and return to BLHN Coordinator with brief curriculum vitae attached by the closing date, Thursday 26 September 2013.

Due to short turnaround timeframes, posted applications do need to have arrived in the office by the closing date.

Assessment process Once your application has been checked for eligibility, it will be assessed by an industry representative from BLHN. The assessor’s decision will be final. BLHN will notify applicants of their outcome by email within two weeks of the closing date.

Reporting on grant outcomes Successful applicants will be required to submit a brief report within six weeks of attending the conference. This report should be 1 to 2 pages written by the applicant and outline how they have benefitted from the opportunity . Photographs can be supplied, where available. Applicants may be required to disseminate what they have learned at future BLHN events.

Payment of Bursary There are two ways in which the bursary can be paid to successful applicants.

Option 1: The bursary can be paid to an organisation that you are connected with. If you are successful, your organisation will be asked to provide a Tax Invoice for the amount of the funding.

Option 2: The bursary can be paid to individual applicants. Applicants will need to provide an ABN. If the applicant does not have an ABN the bursary funds will be subject to 46.5% withholding tax unless a Statement by Supplier form can be supplied along with a Tax Invoice.
