MY WEEK IN RAINBOW CLASS w/c 12.12.16

Theme: Let’s Celebrate Christmas Next week: Let’s Celebrate Christmas

It’s been lovely to receive Christmas cards from the children where they have done their own writing. I wish all the children and their families have a very happy Christmas, and I look forward to hearing all about it in the New Year.

This week I have been  Having my daily phonics lesson – recognising, reading and writing with the letters - s a t p i n m d g o c k ck e u r h b f ff l ll ss  Listening to stories with increasing attention and recall  Recognising, creating and describing patterns in maths  Using vocabulary associated with height and length in maths  Making a Christmas card  Watching the KS1 performance and the Family Trust pantomime  Enjoying the infant Christmas party  Learning Christmas songs  Doing handwriting practise (either tracing or learning to write cursive letters)  Doing music (with Mrs Andrews)  Doing PE (with Mrs Andrews)

In our own learning time I have been able to choose  Class Library  IWB - By the seaside  Creative table – painting Christmassy pictures  Role play – Christmas house  Outdoor play - various  Maths – patterns and measuring  Clever fingers activities - play dough  Mark making table – writing words, labels and captions  Construction toys  Small world toys  Music area

You can help me by  Saying simple consonant, vowel, consonant words for me to write containing the following letters s a t p i n m d g o c k ck e u r h b f ff l ll and ss  Christmas time is a time to think about being kind and helpful to others. Please help me to come up with a way that I can be kind and helpful to someone in my family  The Three Wise Men followed a star to the stable where baby Jesus lay. Have a look at the stars with me. Can we find the brightest star? What else can we see in the night sky?
