 Monthly Financials: Mark gave financials.

Reports (15 Min.)

 NBSD. Mark: Individuals who admitted that they were going to rob Central Bank at 41st and University were arrested before actually entering the building, though that didn’t stop KCCI from reporting it as a robbery. Chris: They’ll be doing a sweep fairly soon to get ready for Drake Relays and the high school track meet, so things will be picking up soon. They’re responsible for mosquitoes, so they’ll be very focused on tires being stored outside. They are required to be inside at night. Mark: They’ve identified houses on Cottage Grove that they think are responsible for the shots fired (there were more this month), and are actively working on dealing with the problem. Thefts from porches on Rutland seem to have stopped. Pay attention to who’s in the neighborhood, and call in suspicious activity. Even minor calls can be helpful. If something happens that you don’t understand, get in touch with Mark and he’ll get it figured out. The NextDoor app seems to be improving communication in the neighborhood, especially related to crime.

 Drake University. Renee: Drake is hiring a community relations manager; employment application information is on the website. Relays are the last week of April, so traffic will pick up for that. President Martin’s inauguration will be 1:30, April 28th. STEM@Drake has broken ground, so that is impacting Forest Ave (East bound is down to one lane), and will for then next year and a half or so.

 President. None

 Old Business. None.

New Business:

1. Dave proposed that DNA send a letter on green infrastructure for the Near West Side Sewer Separation Study to the engineers and City Council. Deric moved, Jen seconded, motion passed.

2. For Free Flix (July 8), Sean suggested Secretariat, Despicable Me 2, and Chronicles of Narnia as our top 3. They’re all bright enough that they should be ok to show at twilight. The Board approved of all movies. Sean asked if it made sense to do some fundraising at the movie. Deric said maybe concessions would be worth it, but probably not something like tickets. Maybe popcorn, soda, and candy bars. Lori, Deric, and Michael agreed to be on the committee to take care of the concessions (Lori will chair the committee).

3. Kristina said that Mac is looking for a date for the Kingman Island Cruise, and the Roosevelt Center has agreed to host. People thought August might be a nice time, but there was a lot going on. After talking about a number of other times, it seemed like the first or second Saturday in June might work ok, so we figured we’d look at those dates.

Adjourn Business Meeting

42nd Street Project (Jen): They received a $10,000 matching grant if they can raise $10,000 for the project, so if you know anyone who would like to donate, send them Jen’s way! Kristina said that it is probably time for the DNA to contribute again. They’re working on a letter right now to send out to businesses and neighborhood associations.

Website (Todd): has been working on the website—he’s removed out of date things, put new minutes online. He can’t edit the donation page, and it only has the PayPal logo, even though you can pay with credit card. Also, Dean doesn’t know where the money is actually going, so we have to figure that out. Todd will contact WordPress to see if there’s something to do about this. Jen suggested getting a committee together to get the membership system working. Unfortunately, it may have to wait until May before we can get the PayPal account information, because Dean won’t be available until after April. The committee will include Jen, Mark, Deric, and Todd. Dave moved that we have a $75 5-year membership option, Lori seconded, motion passed with Michael abstaining.
