EXPLORING NIGERIA

Why targeting the Nigerian market?

This market was chosen due to the interest, potential and strong ties that link our countries through a significant presence on both sides, but also because cosmopolitan Wallonia is full of skilled, multilingual resources which are familiar with this, at times difficult, market, particularly due to immigration. In general, Nigeria has been enjoying economic success for the past 15 years.

This large country, the African largest in terms of population (over 160 millions) is the second African economy, and has the fastest growth in the MINT countries (comprising of Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria and Turkey. This group is countries is the second wave (and the most dynamic) of emerging countries after the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China). This success is the result of numerous factors such as of course the importance of oil and gas resources; great work ethic; high quality of general, specialized and university education; and, of course, the opening of its market.

At a vital time to for Walloon exporters to find new markets, it is time to open up to Nigeria, and our exports to Nigeria have raised up to 34% for the last five years, while the Belgian exports to Nigeria raised up to 193,8% for the same period!
