Type and number of CD works within the stretch along with 28 their condition and effectiveness (describe the condition very briefly)
Rating of the arrangement for surface drainage in terms of 29 its effectiveness (on the basis of cross slopes of GOOD / FAIR / POOR carriageway& shoulders, availability of side drains)
Comments on any specific problem, special features that 30 have some influence on the performance of the pavement

For stretches with 200m length, conduct survey with 100 (instead of 200) observations in each direction. In both cases, for finding the roughness from the data sheet, eliminate 5% observations on each end (tail) of the data sheet. 1. RUTTING Rutting is the longitudinal depression of the pavement along the wheel paths of the traffic. Rut depth should be measured in middle portion of each 20m subsection by placing a 1.5 m straight edge across the rut.
Error: Reference source not found Figure 1: Rutting along wheel paths
Figure 2: Measurement of Rutting using Straight Edge
2. RAVELLING Ravelling is the loss of aggregate particles from the surface. Percentage of raveled surface to be assessed visually.
Figure 3: Ravelling in bituminous layer
3. POTHOLE A pothole is a bowl-shaped hole through one or more layers of the flexible pavement structure.
Severity Levels: Low = Less than 25 mm deep. Medium = 25 mm to 50 mm deep. High = More than 50 mm deep.
Fig.4: Low Severity Pothole
Fig.5: Medium Severity Pothole
Fig.6: High Severity Pothole 4. CRACKING Severity Levels: Low – Individual cracks not interconnected. Small crack width (< 10mm) Medium – Interconnected cracks with small crack width < 10 mm OR individual cracks with larger crack width (>10mm) High – Interconnected wide (> 10mm) cracks
Fig.7: High Severity Cracking
Fig.8: Medium severity Cracking 5. EDGE DROP Edge drop is the difference between the levels of pavement surface at edge and the shoulder. This can be measured by using a scale held vertically and a bar held horizontally along the pavement surface.
