1. Some of the ethical values explored in Siddhartha are faith, freedom, integrity, peace, self-discipline, truth, self-knowledge. Describe an experience you have had in which you were forced to challenge one of these values. 2. Write a letter from Siddhartha to his father explaining why he is leaving the palace. Write a letter of advice back to Siddhartha, that his father might have written. 3. Like many parents, Siddhartha’s father tried to protect him from certain things. What sort of things do your parents try to protect you from? Do you think they are right to do this? Why/why not? 4. The things Siddhartha saw outside the palace shocked him and changed the way he thought about things forever. Write an essay describing an experience in your life that has had a similar effect. How did it affect you?
