'HIDDEN HERITAGE - Architecture in the City of Derry/Londonderry'.

The Conservation Committee of the RSUA invites entries for The Architectural Photography Award in support of the Derry/Londonderry City of Culture 2013.

The aim of the Award is to celebrate the contribution Architects continue to make to the City’s rich architectural heritage.

Each year the award will focus on a particular theme. To celebrate Derry/ Londonderry’s tenure as City of Culture 2013, the theme of the award is :

'HIDDEN HERITAGE - Architecture in the City of Derry/Londonderry'.

Entrants may submit photographs of entire buildings or details of buildings from any era to illustrate the aim and theme of the Award. Entries are open to all Architects and Students of Architecture and Architectural Degree combinations.

Entry Requirements: There will be 2 stages to the judging process. Stage 1 requires submission of up to 5 jpeg images per entrant. All images for Stage 1 consideration should be submitted by email along with the completed entry form to: [email protected] with ‘Hidden Heritage Competition’ in the Subject field.

NOTE: Photo file names should comprise of entrant’s name and number of photo entered. eg JohnSmith1, JohnSmith2, JohnSmith3.

Image Size: Each image should be max.1400 pixels wide by max. 1050 pixels high and be presented as a jpeg file in sRGB colour space for Stage 1 email submission.

A shortlist of 25 images per category will be produced following judging. Shortlisted entrants will be contacted and asked to provide additional material for Stage 2 judging.

Stage 2 requires shortlisted entries to be mounted on 5mm foam board by entrants. Mounted images will be judged and prizes will be awarded as follows:

Architects category: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Highly Commended and Commended

Student category: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Highly Commended and Commended

Conditions of Entry: A maximum of 5 entries can be submitted by an individual. The total entry fee (for up to 5 entries) will be £10.00. Student entries are free. Cheques should be made payable to: Royal Society of Ulster Architects Photographs as presented should have a minimum of post processing manipulation. Photographs must be taken between 1st January 2013 and 14th November 2013. The entries will be judged by 3 Academics and Professionals from the world of Photography and Architecture. Copyright of photographs will remain with the author but the RSUA reserve the right of unlimited use of the images in exhibition or publicity material, giving due recognition to the author. Entry Form and appropriate fee for Stage 1 should be submitted to the RSUA, 2 Mount Charles, Belfast, BT7 1NZ by 12 noon on 15th November 2013. Note: Images should be submitted by email as above along with a digital copy of the entry form to [email protected] with ‘Hidden Heritage Competition’ in the Subject field.

Prints for Stage 2 are to be mounted on 5mm foam board of A2 size and may or may not fill the entire mount. [This mount size is required to enable the framing of photographs for exhibition.] Stage 2 entries are to be identified on the rear with the title, name, address and contact details of the author.

Prizes will be awarded for various categories and will be presented at an Exhibition Launch Gala ceremony at the Ulster Hall, Belfast. (Winners will be put forward for publication in the Architectural Press)

Closing date for all entries, completed forms and payment is: 12 Noon, 15th November 2013
