Philomath High School Compost Project

Philomath High School Compost Project Agreement 2006-2007

 I will cause the student to agree and comply with the terms of the Agreement and not to take any actions that would assist or cause the student to invalidate, renounce, negate, revoke, or disclaim any part of the Agreement.  I understand that this is a project solely for the purpose of the high school senior project and to further the education of these students.  I understand that the student will be traveling to the “Compost barn” in Philomath.  I understand that the project may include dangerous or hazardous activities or risks and that the project may take place on a location or under conditions that may be dangerous to the student. (i.e. unforeseen sharp objects, and pathogens associated with manure, organic waste, etc.)  I will enforce as well as trust the student to maintain the standards by which Mr. Smith works as well as be respectful to his work. I will remember at all times that this site is private property and student conduct must reflect awareness for Mr. Smith’s business and the property owners’ interest.  Since we are located in Benton County the health standards and sanitization frequency will be noticed. The students will keep the compost contained within the site and not contaminate outlying areas, but also watch for their personal health by using ways of sanitization.  Payment is based on hours accomplished as well as rigor and persistence.  The students who finish out the project shall be paid with the rest of the grant money, split evenly among them.  The PHS compost website must be up and running and witnessed.  All areas used in PHS must be cleaned up before end of project.
