Hello Spring! A week or so ago the day was so nice that windows could be opened and the sight of the curtains gently blowing away from the windows, the wonderful fra- grance of awakening earth and the sound of kids riding up and down the street on their bicycles was like getting a reward for getting through another winter! I rejoice at ac- cepting this reward and the beautiful shades and color that accompany it! Time to work on a spring !! A week or so ago I had the amazing opportunity to attend the open- ing of the " , a joy forever" exhibit at the Museum of Art. Kandye Lawler and I were mesmerized by the breathtaking beauty of seeing 25 of Marie Webster's original quilts on display...some that had not been seen in many years! We had the honor of meeting and talking with former Indiana First Lady Judy O'Bannon and learning of her vast knowledge of and the life of Marie Web- ster! There are hardly words to describe this exhibit! You have until January 2017 to enjoy this outstanding exhibit! At the same time we have a once in a lifetime opportu- nity to view the Susan McCord Vine quilt at the Indiana State Museum which is on loan from the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan as part of the "200 Years of Indi- ana Art" exhibit! This quilt is the most incredible example of piecework and appliqué’ that you may ever see! Lots to enjoy, lots to inspire....don't miss these opportunities! Wel- come Spring!

Sew What Happened Last Month….?

Happy Valentine’s to all! The Evening Star Quilt Guild met February 15, 2016 with President Sherry McConnell wel- coming 43 members and 2 guests. She thanked the volunteers for the month, Vanna Girls, Sign in Table and Hostesses. Ann Fisher was thanked for the newsletter.

Sherry announced that Wendy Shepherd will be our guest speaker in September instead of August.

The Madison County Extension seminar will be at the 4H fairgrounds in Alexandria 4/2/16. Cost is $15 which includes soup and salad.

Celebration this July at the Quilters Hall of Fame will soon have registrations available soon. Our own member, Kaye Judt will be one of the teachers!

Sherry asked if there was any interest in a bus trip to Missouri Star Quilt in Hamilton Missouri this fall. There was a lot of interest! This would be a 3 day trip and will hopefully be worked out for September.

Ann Shaffer reported that there are workshops being planned and will let us know soon. April will be the Improved 9 Patch, led by Sherry McConnell. The planning committee had a fun time planning the workshops and the monthly meeting schedule.

Stephanie Crabtree gave us some unusual laws/information about Indiana.

Donna Hartman let us know that she was trying to work out a bus trip to the International Quilt Festival in this coming April. She will be letting other guilds in the area know so that we can get a full bus, which helps with the cost. th The trip will be on Friday, April 8 . We will leave around 6:30 AM, stay until 4 pm Central time and stop for dinner on the way home.

Ann Fisher started us on our Formula One Block of the Month for the Bicentennial quilt. She demonstrated 2 ways for sewing the Evening Star block. She had the instructions on a PowerPoint that was playing before the meeting started. We are trying a new way of demonstrating the lessons by showing a power point before and during the meeting. Thank you, Ann. Next month, Steph Crabtree will present the next 2 blocks. Ladies, Start your sewing machines!!! Show and Tell had 14 members showing their projects. Judy Tescher won the drawing.

Our program was present by Mary Jane teeters Eichacker, Curator of Social History for the Indiana State museum. She presented Gardens in Red and Green, appliqued quilts in these colors from mostly Indiana residents. We saw 32 slides and 4 quilts brought by Mary Jane that were amazing. Such detail! Thank you, Mary Jane for sharing these treasures.

Respectfully submitted, Stephanie Crabtree, Secretary
