NO SPEED LIMIT / SCALLYWAGS FLYBALL SWIMMER’S TURN-AMENT WELCOME LETTER

Welcome to the NSL / SW Swimmer’s Turn-ament! The tournament is being run as one (1) two-day unlimited tournament with 20 Regular teams, 5 multi-breed teams, 23 Open Teams and 3 Veterans teams in 2 rings using the one schedule, two ring format. 1st place through 3rd place division winners will receive ribbons and dog toys. Please sign up any dogs who earn NAFA titles during the weekend (please, only those that are earned at our tournament) on our posted sheet. We will be giving title ribbons to each dog who earned them at our tournament. Thanks for all your entries and we look forward to some great racing! We are having two rings which will provide over 60 Ft. of runback. Racing will be from 27 to 45 heats for each team. You will find a seeding chart, format, and racing schedule for Saturday and Sunday, along with directions to the tournament site on our website at http://www.flyball.com/nsl/flyer_jun2010.html. We will also have a sheet available on Saturday to sign-up Jr. Handlers. If anyone has any suggestions or complaints, please see any members of NSL or SW for assistance. The judges will be Aimee Walker, Glenn Hamilton and Carle Lee Detweiler.

Jim Geiser of Game Time Photography (www.seegametimephotos.com) will be our tournament photographer.

NAFA C-2 score sheets will be filled out with race schedules pre-printed. If you are using stickers, be sure to bring one for each side of the sheet. Please do not bring entire C-2 sheets unless your sheets have the races pre- printed.

The facility will be open to drop off boxes and set up crating after 5:30 P.M. There is more than enough space for indoor crating but please don’t take up more space then you really need. There is also plenty of crating space outdoors if you so desire it.

Scoring: All divisions except Regular 1 and Open 1 will score 1 point per heat won + 1 point for winning the race, 1/2 point for a tied race, 1/2 point for tied heats and 0 for a loss. Regular 1 and Open 1 will score 1 point for winning the race and 0 for a loss. Ties for tournament placement will be decided by:  First- Head to head record  Second- If still tied, fastest head to head time  Third- If still tied, fastest time in the division

Boy Scouts: We have Troop XXX coming to box lift and box judge. Their fee for box lifting is 10.00 per team. The contact for this is Lauralee McGuire [email protected] . They will also be box judging for us, please support the kids!

Food: There are Jr. Cow Shows sharing the fairgrounds with us this weekend and they have agreed to also supply breakfast and lunch for the flyball competitors. Saturday the food is being sold by the Maryland Jr. Simmental Association, on Sunday by the Maryland Jr. Hereford Association.

NSL and SW’s are also providing a bake sale table for your tasting pleasure.

Friday Night Racing: Scallywags will be hosting the Friday night racing for the Swimmer’s Turn-ament. We will start with one lane at 6pm and add the 2nd as set-up finishes. Fees will be: $5.00 for 4 Single dog runs with 1 warm-up, $5.00 for 5 minutes of practice. Charlene Schilling is taking advance sign ups [email protected] Sign-ups will begin at 5:30 in the racing building if you haven’t registered in advance, with racing starting at 6:00 P.M. and ending at 8:00 P.M... Scallywags will have a box available for use in case your team’s box isn’t there in time. This is great experience for “green dogs” so don’t miss it!

Raffle: NSL and SW are offering a raffle, winners to be drawn at 2pm on Sunday

Swim Suit Contest: Don’t forget to enter your Bitchin’ Babe or Stud Muffin in our swimsuit contest. Pictures of your pup will be taken on Saturday and your fellow competitors can vote ($1/vote) on their favorites. Winner announced Sunday during awards. All proceeds will be split between the 2 winners and sent to the charity of their choice.

NCCF Fundraiser: Scallywags has taken up the Fur Fun challenge and will be selling tugs and homemade treats as well as the pre-orders for K9 Kravings. Contact Lori Bessenhoffer for more info [email protected]

RV/Campers- there is parking for campers on-site overnight for $25.00 per night, limited hook-ups available. E-mail Charlene Schilling [email protected] if you are bringing an RV.

Please keep the grass areas clean. Watch your dogs as to where and when they go and clean up after them- bags and containers will be provided.

Remember to keep you dog on leash at all times, except in the racing lane. Failure to do so could result in your dismissal from the fairgrounds.

Sunday 7:00 A.M. Building Opens 8:00 A.M. Racing Begins 4:00 P.M. Racing Ends – Awards

Warm-ups – 90 seconds for the first race on Saturday for each team then dropping to 60 seconds. Please let the judges know if you do not need your warm up time to help move racing along.

Race numbers posted will be the ON DECK race.
