SERVICE BULLETIN PAGE 1 OF 3 ISSUED: December 1, 2006 Written By: K. Butler SUBJECT: RECALL TO REPAIR – INCORRECT WIRE ROUTING UNITS: DW660 TYPE 3, DW660K TYPE 3, DW660SK TYPE 3 DATE CODES AFFECTED: 2006-01 THROUGH 2006-39

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), DEWALT is recalling the above units. The lead wires may have been incorrectly routed in the handle potentially leading to a shock hazard.

Follow the steps outlined below to fix the unit. No new parts should be necessary unless the cord lead or lead wire insulation has been damaged. Note: if a 50 foot, 3-wire cord has been added to this unit (found mainly in California) you must replace it with the standard 330072-98 cord. In the interest of customer satisfaction, charge the cord and labor to warranty and return the 50 foot cord to the customer. Use of other cords voids the U.L. listing and servicers can be held accountable if the tool is returned to the user in a manner that is not in compliance.

Units already reworked will have a “V” stamped on the upper right corner of the nameplate; units in cartons with a blue dot near the serial number have already been repaired also. The date code can be found on the nameplate.
