NORTHERN CALIFORNIA WHIPPET FANCIERS ASSOCIATION, INC. WHIPPET RESCUE ADOPTION AGREEMENT Please read the below listed conditions of adopting this Whippet and if you agree, please sign
1. The Whippet you have adopted will be given 3 to 4 weeks to adjust to new surroundings in consideration of the fact that it will take this long for a Whippet to become compatible with a new environment. During this trial period, the adopter is legally responsible for said animal. NCWFA Whippet Rescue can not be held responsible for any injury or damage caused by the whippet during the trial period or after adoption. Adoption fees in the amount of $350.00 will be due and payable upon the expiration of the trial period.
2. This adopted Whippet will be returned to NCWFA Whippet Rescue if under any circumstances the adopter is no longer able to keep said dog. The Whippet can not be sold, bequeathed, or given to anyone other than Whippet Rescue without Whippet Rescue’s written approval.
3. The Whippet will wear a collar with a tag, showing the name and address of the adopter, as well as rabies tag at all times. (Adopter will leave Whippet Rescue tag on until new tag with adopter’s name and address is obtained)
4. If the Whippet is accidentally lost or stolen, the adopter will immediately notify NCWFA Whippet Rescue. The adopter also agrees to vigorously pursue the recovery of the Whippet, including notice in at least one major local newspaper, plus area posters.
5. The Whippet will be kept on a leash whenever taken out of the adopter’s yard for protection against running away or being hit by a car. Local leash and dog laws will be observed.
6. The Whippet will be given the necessary rabies, and other boosters at an interval agreed with by their vet. This Whippet was vaccinated by (see attached vet records).
7. The Whippet will be taken to a veterinarian if sick or injured. If the adopter is unable to do so, NCWFA Whippet Rescue is to be notified immediately.
8. The Whippet will live indoors. Food and water will be provided for the Whippet. Off lead exercise will be in a fenced area: The Whippet will NOT BE TIED OR CHAINED UP.
9. The adopter will, if applicable, obtain his or her landlord’s permission to have a Whippet, prior to this adoption.
10. The adopter agrees to notify NCWFA Whippet Rescue of any changes of address or telephone.
11. I understand that the NCWFA Rescue Person adopting out the Whippet or his/her representative may visit my home without giving advance notice. If at any time the NCWFA Rescue determines that the terms and condition of this agreement have not been met or that the animal is not receiving proper and humane card, the NCWFA Rescue person may take custody of the animal.
12. The adopter acknowledges that the Whippet which is the subject of this agreement has been taken in by NCWFA Whippet Rescue and that NCWFA Whippet Rescue has little or no knowledge concerning the background or previous environment of the Whippet. NCWFA Whippet Rescue in no way warrants or guarantees this Whippet. The adopter hereby releases, discharges, and holds harmless the representative, NCWFA Whippet Rescue, the Northern California Whippet Fanciers Association Inc., and any other person, firm, corporation, or association charged with or chargeable with liability including their heirs, administrators, expenses, loss or services, actions and causes of action which the adopter now has or may hereafter accrue on account of or in any way growing out of any and all known and unknown foreseen and unforeseen injuries, property damages, and the consequences thereof resulting from the placement of this Whippet with the adopter.
13. The adopter agrees to comply with all conditions of this agreement. Failure to comply with these conditions will be sufficient cause for repossession by NCWFA Whippet Rescue. NCWFA Whippet Rescue agrees to accept the return of this whippet at any time for any reason.
THIS AGREEMENT IS IN EFFECT WHEN SIGNED AND DATED BELOW.
