Some Examples of Essential Work: Compiles data and prepares the City’s annual MS4 Report; Implements and annually updates the City’s Storm Water Management Program (SWMP), including measurable goals contained therein; Collects data for, implements and annually updates the Cedar Rapids Metro Area Watershed Assessment; Develops initiatives for and implements requirements of the City’s MS4 Permit as issued by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (IDNR); Complies with updated storm water regulations and orders as issued by state and federal agencies; Maintains a public education program to inform the public about illicit discharge reporting and pollution prevention for residents and businesses; Conducts field and site reviews of existing and proposed storm water facilities, including pipes, detention basins, streams, and water quality features; Conducts field data collection including water quality sampling; Develops and delivers presentations and attends meetings, conferences, and workshops as requested and authorized; Assists in departmental projects including ordinance research and development; Provides code enforcement regarding illicit discharges; Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies, procedures and safety practices; Attends work regularly at the designated place and time; Supports continuous process improvement initiatives; Performs related work as required. Acceptable Experience and Training include: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, environmental science or a related field; and Considerable experience in storm water management, regulations and permitting; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Required Special Qualifications: Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) or Certified Professional in Storm Water Quality (CPSWQ) or ability to obtain within four years of appointment.
