2006 SSPs used with 2006 Standard Plans:

SN-500, approved 02-06-09. This special notice serves to alert contractors of the new requirements in the Small Business Utilization Report SSP

S1-020, Amendments to the Standard Specifications, approved 02-06-09. This revision updates the following sections:

S2-100, Mandatory Prebid Meeting, approved 02-06-09. This SSP is created in an effort to continue the Department's race neutral program and to help the Department meet its annual overall annual DBE program goal. An earlier version of this SSP has been pilot since October 2007. This SSP is created based on the positive results of the pilot program.

S5-135, Force Account Payment, approved 02-06-09. This revision updates the instructions to only use this SSP when the project includes TRO and to change the labor markup from 28 to 30 percent.

S5-250, Payments, approved 02-06-09. This revision deletes paragraphs that have been previously used to retain money on over bid items for early items of work and paragraphs that reference retentions for plant establishment work.

S5-625, Bird Protection, approved 02-06-09. This revision complements the new Section 14 amendment.

S5-630, Relations with California Regional Water Quality Control Board, approved 02-06- 09. This revision eliminates the redundancy between the Section 9-1.055, "Penalty Withholds," of the Standard Specifications.

07-320, Archaeological Monitoring Area, approved 02-06-09. This revision complements the new Section 14 amendment.

08-015, Progress Schedule (Critical Path Method), approved 02-06-09. This revision corrects language that refers to retentions. 08-050, Small Business Utilization Report, approved 02-06-09. This SSP is created in an effort to continue the Department's race neutral program and to help the Department meet its annual overall annual DBE program goal. This is a new SSP to require contractors to submit quarterly reports. These reports are paid under a new contract item of work at a price of $250 each.

12-411, Temporary Terminal Section (Type K), approved 02-06-09. This revision adds a heading title to the SSP.

20-700, Pipe, approved 02-06-09. This revision clarifies the lead instructions and adds requirements for copper pipe.

39-050, Hot Mix Asphalt, approved 02-06-09 as T spec. This revision adds specifications for data cores, changes sampling and reporting requirements for CT 371, pilot for QC/QA projects, and removes provisions for District to specify antistip treatment.

39-100, Open Graded Friction Course, approved 02-06-09 as T spec. This revision adds specifications for data cores.

39-150, Rubberized Hot Mix Asphalt – Gap Graded, approved 02-06-09 as T spec. This revision adds specifications for data cores, changes sampling and reporting requirements for CT 371, pilot for QC/QA projects, removes provisions for District to specify antistip treatment, and provides instructions for determining antistrip treatment for QC/QA projects.

39-200, Rubberized Hot Mix Asphalt – Open Graded, approved 02-06-09 as T spec. This revision adds specifications for data cores and changes multiplier of OBC equation from 1.2 to 1.4.

39-250, Hot Mix Asphalt (Miscellaneous Area), approved 02-06-09 as T spec. This revision adds full-comp clause for tack coat since the full-comp clause in Section 39 was deleted.

39-300, Minor Hot Mix Asphalt, approved 02-06-09 as T spec. This revision corrects lead instructions and adds new requirement for finished surface.

39-350, Rumble Strip, approved 02-06-09 as T spec. This revision complements new revised Section 39.

39-400, Hot Mix Asphalt Lime Treatment - Slurry Method, approved 02-06-09 as T spec. This revision complements new revised Section 39.

39-450, Hot Mix Asphalt Lime Treatment - Dry Lime Method, approved 02-06-09 as T spec. This revision complements new revised Section 39.

39-500, Liquid Antistrip Treatment, approved 02-06-09 as T spec. This revision adds a minor instruction.

39-550, Prime Coat, approved 02-06-09 as T spec. This revision adds a minor instruction. 39-600, Replace Asphalt Concrete Surfacing, approved 02-06-09 as T spec. This revision adds editable clauses for HMA, binder, and aggregate gradation.

49-340, Mass Concrete for Cast-in-Place Piles, approved 02-06-09. This revision removes the requirement for thermal monitoring of CIDH pile.

51-770, Joint Seal Assemblies (Maximum Moment Rating, 4 Inches), approved 02-06-09. This revision corrects an instruction to an SSP number reference.

59-550, Clean and Paint Existing Structural Steel, approved 02-06-09. This revision corrects subparagraph 3E; the word "or" was changed to "and" because both certifications are required.

59-560, Clean and Paint Structural Steel, approved 02-06-09. This revision corrects subparagraph 3E; the word "or" was changed to "and" because both certifications are required.

59-600, Clean and Paint Steel Piling, approved 02-06-09. This revision corrects subparagraph 3E; the word "or" was changed to "and" because both certifications are required.

NOTE: Other revisions to special notices and SSPs in Sections 2 and 3 will be posted on Monday, February 9, 2009. These are part of the boilerplate and do not affect your projects.
