College of Applied Science & Technology Dr. Phebe M. Scott Endowment Fund for Professional Development of Women in The School of Kinesiology and Recreation and The Health Education Program in the Department of Health Sciences

Overview The Dr. Phebe M. Scott Endowment Fund for Professional Development of Women was established by Dr. Scott, former Chair of the Department of Health and Physical Education for Women at ISU and a national leader in the development of women’s sports. The fund provides financial support for the professional development of women faculty members and women graduate students in the School of Kinesiology and Recreation and/or the Health Education Program in the Department of Health Sciences. Awards are made annually based on the availability of funding. Applications are reviewed each fall and awards are made for succeeding academic terms and summer. Applications to fund personal emergencies are accepted at any time and awards made as funds permit and circumstances warrant.

Eligibility All female faculty members and graduate students (holding a 50% or more part-time appointment) in the School of Kinesiology and Recreation and/or the program in Health Education located in the Department of Health Sciences are eligible to receive awards from the fund. Faculty may request funds for any of the following award outcomes:  Emphasis on creative projects which would enhance the faculty member’s service as faculty and as a professional academician.  Attendance at professional meetings  Registration or tuition/fees for seminars, courses, internships  Travel associated with curriculum development and the improvement of teaching, and/or scholarly development  Activities which increase the knowledge base for the school/department/university. Graduate students may request funds for any of the following.  Research development and expenses incurred in completing the research project.  Educational purposes, such as activities related to the presentation of research at professional meetings, or in professional publications.  Travel to professional seminars and courses.  Financial assistance for personal emergencies. The award committee reserves the right to allocate funds among these purposes and may give partial awards to help meet multiple purposes in any one year.
