Diamond Systems provides a VxWorks development kit to customers to demonstrate how Diamond Systems single board computers work with VxWorks. The development kit is meant to help customers evaluate Diamond Systems products compatibility with VxWorks and jump-start their development process. The following is a list of what’s included in the development kit:
1. 32, 64, or 128 MB flash disk with a VxWorks image loaded on it 2. Data acquisition demo programs with source code for Diamond Systems CPU boards. 3. One VxWorks Neutrino runtime license
Device Drivers Built Into the Image
This section entails the device drivers that are built into the VxWorks image that Diamond Systems provides. Device drivers supported are:
1. DP83815 Ethernet with TCPIP support 2. 4 Serial ports 3. USB support on Athena and Hercules. 4. VESA video support 5. ATA IDE (hard disk, flash) 6. Keyboard and mouse 7. DAQ support using the Diamond Systems Universal Driver
DP83815 Ethernet
The Ethernet driver is built into the VxWorks image. Also built into the image is TCPIP support. The IP address 192.168.1.221 is assigned with a default router of 192.168.1.1 and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.
Serial Port
The system includes the serial driver run with its default settings for COM1 & COM2.
USB Support
The USB UHCI driver is running which supports the Hercules and Athena. Video, IDE, and Keyboard/Mouse
Support for these are added. IDE supports IDE hard disk and IDE flash.
Software and Applications Built Into the Image
The demo kit includes the full set of DAQ demo programs for Diamond Systems CPU boards. These are interactive programs which allow the user to try A/D, D/A, digital I/O, and other features of the built in DAQ circuit.
Athena users should use the demo programs marked “PROM” below.

How to Boot Sample Image and Run Demos
To boot the image simply attach the flash disk to the IDE header and power up the CPU. The VxWorks image will boot automatically. Once the system has booted to a command line, you can run the DAQ demo programs from the command line. Below are a list of the demo programs included. These are interactive programs which ask you for configuration information and then run the DAQ demo and display the results.
