Important Notices and Warnings:

These vehicle-specific installation instructions are supplemental to the Idleright Installation Manual, and all precautions and warnings provided in other Idleright instructions must also be adhered to.

These instructions are for reference only. All wiring information and other details are provided solely as a guideline of how a representative installation could be performed. Wiring information is based on inspection of vehicles of model year 2007. Although all vehicles covered should use the same wiring, we cannot guarantee that every vehicle will be identical. The installer is responsible for verifying all details, including wire colors and locations, before performing the installation.

This product requires an installer experienced with car alarm and remote starting system installation. If the installer does not have such experience, then they should hire a subcontractor experienced with car alarm and remote starting system installation.

Havis, Inc., is not liable for any damage caused to a vehicle or property, nor for injuries resulting from incorrect installation or usage of the Idleright. The installer must ensure correct installation and operation of the Idleright before placing a vehicle into service.

The Idleright must be installed in a vehicle with a fuel-injected engine and automatic transmission. It must not be installed in a vehicle with a manual transmission.

Most vehicles have an SRS air bag system. Use extreme care and do not probe any wires of the SRS system. These wires will usually be located inside a bright yellow tube or tape and located in the steering column.

Do not permanently mount the control module until all connections have been made and the unit is programmed and tested.

Good Ground: Direct connection to a factory grounding point, or direct connection to the battery (-) terminal. There must be less than 0.35 ohms resistance between the wire being connected to ground and the battery (-) terminal.

Splice: Electrical connection made between two or more wires. Permanent, reliable wire connections are required. Soldered wire connections are recommended, and in some cases, high-quality connectors designed for vehicle use may also be acceptable. Non-permanent connectors, such as wire nuts, are never acceptable. Electrical connections must be fully and permanently insulated.

Wire Colors: Wire colors may either be solid, or solid with one stripe. Wires of a solid color are designated by that color, e.g. Red designates a wire that is only red in color. Wires with stripes are designated as Main/Stripe, so Blue/Yellow designates a wire that is blue with a yellow stripe. The designation Lt. means Light and Dk. means Dark. So, Lt. Green/Dk. Blue designates a wire that is light green with a dark blue stripe. Step 1:

Remove the dashboard trim panel to the left of the steering column by carefully pulling straight out. Disconnect the two electrical plugs from the back of the panel.

Step 2:

Remove the lower kick panel below the steering column and dash by removing one screw at the parking brake release lever and one push-in plastic fastener at the opposite side of the panel.

Step 3:

Remove the steel column shield by removing six bolts.

Step 4:

Remove the steering column cover panel by removing three screws at the lower half of the panel. Remove the shift lever boot by prying it straight off, starting with the bottom, and working up to the top. The top half of the panel should unsnap from the lower half with light pressure. Remove the lower panel by sliding it over the tilt steering wheel lever.

Step 5:

Attach the J1 harness, J2 harness, and external relay pack to the Idleright, and locate a suitable mounting point for the Idleright. A suggested mounting point is the steel support bar under the dash behind the fuse box. Connect the Idleright J1 and J2 harness wires, and external relay pack wires, to the corresponding factory vehicle wires. Allow enough slack wire to move the Idleright if needed, but not too much so that the wires cannot be neatly bundled.

The installer must verify wiring accuracy by probing each wire before making any wire splices!

Note that all wire connections for power, ground, starter, run, and accessory lines should be minimum 12 AWG, and each conductor must be a separate wire run. Each power supply wire must be individually fused at the source with 25A fuses.

Connect the J2-4 Yellow wire to the J1-2 Yellow wire.

Connect Relay #1 Purple wire to 12V Positive Supply, with 25A fuse at source. Connect Relay #1 Blue wire to Accessory #2, factory color White/Light Blue.

Connect Relay #2 Purple wire to 12V Positive Supply, with 25A fuse at source. Connect Relay #2 Green wire to Accessory #3, factory color White/Purple.

Step 6:

Connect the programming light and pushbutton switch to the Idleright. Route the wires up to the dash panel. Using a wire tie, secure the programming light, pushbutton switch, and excess wire behind the dash panel. If desired, the installer can mount the light and switch so they are accessible by the driver, but that will not be desirable in many installations.

Step 7: Secure the Idleright in the desired installation location chosen in Step 5 using wire ties so it can be easily removed if needed. Secure the external relay pack in a similar manner.

Step 8:

Connect the Green/White brake light detection light wire (J1-1) to the vehicle brake light wire.

Step 9:

Remove the lower left kick panel by gently pulling it straight out towards the rear of the vehicle. Connect the ground wire (J1-9) to the factory ground point located behind this panel. Replace the kick panel.

Step 10:

Locate a suitable place under the hood for mounting the supplied hood pin switch. Mount the switch securely, and adjust it properly. Run a suitable wire from the hood pin switch terminal into the vehicle by going through the upper hole and factory grommet in the fire wall. Connect the hood pin switch wire to the White/Black wire (J1-3.)

Step 11: (Optional)

If desired, mount an indicator light behind the grille or in a suitable location where it will be clearly visible outside the vehicle. Connect the ground lead on the light to a good vehicle ground. Run the positive lead into the vehicle in the same manner as for the hood pin switch wire in Step 10. Connect the indicator light positive lead to the White running output #3 lead (J1-16.)

Step 12: Connect the Blue/Yellow lightbar control wire (J1-6) to the lightbar control switch. This wire must receive a +12V or Ground signal indicating the warning lights are turned on, and the Idleright must be programmed correctly to match the signal type provided. Factory default is +12V positive signal. Do not connect this wire to any switch other than the warning light system!

Step 13:

Program the Idleright and test it for proper operation by following the instructions in the Idleright Installation manual. To expedite initial testing, the voltage trip point (location 1 option 11) may be set to 12.5V. The initial tests must include verifying: (1) Idleright will start the vehicle, (2) hood pin switch will shut down Idleright, (3) brake pedal will shut down Idleright, and (4) lightbar control turns the Idleright detection on and off. After completing initial testing, return the detection voltage to 11.5V.

Step 14:

Secure the Idleright, external relay pack, and all wiring and harnesses properly. Ensure excess wires are bundled properly, and unneeded wires are cut short (but not all the way off) and do not short circuit among each other or with the vehicle frame.

Step 15:

Replace the steering column cover panel, column shield, and lower kick panel by reversing the directions in Steps 4, 3, and 2.

Step 16:

If the pushbutton switch and indicator light will not be visible after the left dash panel is replaced, then final vehicle testing should be performed now in order to determine the optimum starting voltage, run time, and cranking time, by following the recommendations in the Idleright Installation Manual. In any case, this testing should be performed prior to placing the vehicle into service.

Step 17:

Reconnect the two electrical plugs to the left dash panel, and replace the dash panel. Step 18:

Install warning labels, and ensure that all other directions in the Idleright Installation Manual are followed.
