Division Strategic Plan Alignment: Initiative #5- Engagement, Citizenship and Civility

Core Functional Area: Provide opportunities to students that contribute to the overall spirit of the UT Arlington community. Wrangler numbers did not meet the criteria for success. The Wrangler roster had approximately 30 members each semester.

Future Plans for Outcome: The Wrangler program will be reevaluated this summer. The number of Wranglers and the commitments of the group both need to be discussed and improved. A meeting with the interim SG Coordinator, the Associate Director and the AVP has been set for late June.

June 21, 2013 Page | 1 Results of Assessment: 48.5% (65/134) of all Campus Recreation employees had between a 3.0-4.0 in spring 2013. From spring 2012 to fall 2012, 34 returning campus recreation employees increased their semester GPA, 31 realized a decrease in semester GPA and 4 student’s semester GPA remained the same. From fall 2012 to spring 2013, 49 returning campus recreation employees increased their semester GPA, 40 realize a decrease in semester GPA and 5 student’s semester GPA remained the same. In comparing the semester GPA of freshmen who worked for campus recreation during fall 2012 and spring 2013, 10 students increased their GPA and 5 saw their semester GPA decrease. Future Plans for Outcome: Campus Recreation will continue to emphasize academic achievement for its student employees.

Core Functional Area: Provide quality recreational programs that encourage student participation in activities that promote healthy lifestyles. Results of Assessment: The challenge had 24 teams sign up, 18 teams of 4 actual participated. Other events participation numbers were: Amazing Race -175 participants, “Happy” the movie -150 participants, Zumbathon-150 participants, Biggest Loser- 100 participants.

Future Plans for Outcome: The LiveWell MavWell Committee is meeting weekly and continuing with preparation for the upcoming year. We are trying to improve the program and increase participation numbers while managing and using our resources efficiently.
