Earth’s Structure: * Where are we as a grade level? * The wiki - using the glog * Assessment – when to give it

Using Probes: * What is a probe? When would we use it and why? Examples of probles – KWL, powerpoint where they discuss what they notice, drawing a picture of what they know/think

Next Unit of Study: * Sun and Water Safety - changing beads….haven’t heard back from Susan yet but they are only $27 plus shipping – I think we should buy them ourselves (about $2.50 a piece I’m guessing)

- What are some ways to be safe in and around water? – 5 E lesson plan already completed from Academy lesson - Assessment Benefits:

Engage –  Put something that melts outside (chocolate, icy pop) – provides heat Explore –  Solor energy – (calculators)  2 buckets of water (one in shade / one is sun – check 3 times a day) - causes water to evaporate

Explain –

Extend – Find one way that the sun helps around your house. Draw a picture and write how the sun helps you.

Evaluate – on going informal assessment Harmful Properties:

Engage –  Show a picture of tan/sunburn (what do you notice – KWL)  Two piece of paper and leave it in the sun until it fades.
