When would we use it and why? Examples of probles – KWL, powerpoint where they discuss what they notice, drawing a picture of what they know/think</p><p>Next Unit of Study: * Sun and Water Safety - changing beads….haven’t heard back from Susan yet but they are only $27 plus shipping – I think we should buy them ourselves (about $2.50 a piece I’m guessing)</p><p>- What do we already have completed?? (see attached) - What are some of the beneficial and harmful properties of the sun? - websites (Sun Safety Alliance, Sun Wise) - </p><p>- What are some ways to be safe in and around water? – 5 E lesson plan already completed from Academy lesson - Assessment Benefits:</p><p>Engage –  Put something that melts outside (chocolate, icy pop) – provides heat Explore –  Solor energy – (calculators)  2 buckets of water (one in shade / one is sun – check 3 times a day) - causes water to evaporate </p><p>Explain – </p><p>Extend – Find one way that the sun helps around your house. Draw a picture and write how the sun helps you. </p><p>Evaluate – on going informal assessment Harmful Properties:</p><p>Engage –  Show a picture of tan/sunburn (what do you notice – KWL)  Two piece of paper and leave it in the sun until it fades.</p><p>Explore – (lessons/websites)</p><p>Explain - (websites)</p><p>Evaluate – ongoing informal assessment (sun safety quiz)</p>
