JOHN R. BROCK, 12 CHAIRMAN OF THE OCONEE COUNTY TAX APPEALS 13 BOARD, UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT 14 FROM THIS POSITION, TO EXPRESS THE APPRECIATION 15 OF THE CITIZENS OF OCONEE COUNTY TO HIM FOR HIS 16 MANY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE, AND 17 TO WISH HIM MUCH HAPPINESS, FULFILLMENT AND 18 SUCCESS IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS. 19 20 Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives have 21 learned that Mr. John R. Brock, Chairman of the Oconee County 22 Tax Appeals Board for twenty years, will retire in June of this 23 year; and 24 25 Whereas, it is with great pleasure that the House of 26 Representatives honors those individuals who give tirelessly of 27 themselves to the welfare of this State’s citizenry; and 28 29 Whereas, John Brock of Oconee County stands among their 30 number as an outstanding public servant, one much admired in his 31 role on the County Tax Appeals Board; and 32 33 Whereas, he was appointed to the board in 1983 and has ably 34 represented the Walhalla area on the board; and 35 36 Whereas, John Brock grew up in the Seneca area and attended 37 Seneca schools. He moved to Walhalla in 1967 and began his 38 career in the real estate business; and 39 40 Whereas, he served in the Army after the conclusion of World War 41 II with our forces in Germany; and 42
[5114] 2 1 Whereas, in his free time he enjoys collecting and repairing 2 watches and clocks; and 3 4 Whereas, John Brock has four wonderful children, John, David, 5 Susan, and Kathy; and 6 7 Whereas, the citizens of Walhalla and Oconee County are grateful 8 for the long and exemplary career of Chairman Brock and for his 9 faithful service to them on their behalf; and 10 11 Whereas, the members House of Representatives the would like to 12 recognize and honor this outstanding South Carolinian for his 13 many years of distinguished public service to his county and State 14 upon the occasion of this retirement. Now, therefore, 15 16 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 17 18 That the members of the House of Representatives, by this 19 resolution, recognize and honor Mr. John R. Brock, Chairman of 20 the Oconee County Tax Appeals Board, upon the occasion of his 21 retirement from this position, express the appreciation of the 22 citizens of Oconee County to him for his many years of 23 outstanding public service, and wish him much happiness, 24 fulfillment, and success in all his future endeavors. 25 26 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 27 Mr. Brock. 28 XX 29
