I. INTRODUCTION AND CALL TO ORDER 1. The Curriculum Committee meeting was called to order by Chair John Woodward at 2:45 p.m. II. ACTION ITEMS 1. (Amendment) Proposal 2015-01: General Education Course Modifications, Title Changes to HUM 2210, HUM 2230, AML 2020, PHI 2603, REL 2000

i. A motion to discuss and vote on the proposal was made by Melanie Ferren and seconded by Kimberly Tenorio

Professor Rachelle Wadsworth stated the Humanities council reviewed the initial changes presented and recommended the courses be modified to align more closely with their original titles. Professor Wadsworth and Chair John Woodward clarified the adoption of the word interdisciplinary as being used throughout the Humanities discipline.

A vote was taken to approve the proposal as amended and the motion carries.

2. Proposal 2015-18: Intermediate Spanish Conversation I and II (SPN 2210/2211) and Intermediate French Conversation I and II (FRE 2210/2211) Course Modifications

Presented by Professor Luz Font i. A motion to discuss and vote on the proposal was made by Rachelle Wadsworth and seconded by Melanie Ferren.

Professor Luz Font stated the purpose of the proposal was to remove the word “Intermediate” from the course titles. She also stated both SPN 2210 and FRE 2210 increased credit hours from 3 to 4. Professor Font further clarified that students now have the option of enrolling in a foreign language course sequence of 1120/1121 or 1120/2210 based on these modifications

A vote was taken and the motion carries.

3. Proposal 2015-19: Beginning Chinese I and II (CHI 1120/1121), Beginning French I and II (FRE 1120/1121), Beginning German I and II (GER 1120/1121), Beginning Latin I and II (LAT 1120/1121), Beginning Brazilian Portuguese I and II (POR 1120/1121) and Beginning Spanish I and II (SPN 1120/1121) Course Modifications Presented by Professor Luz Font i. A motion to discuss and vote on the proposal was made by Melanie Ferren and seconded Nancy Webster.

Professor Luz Font stated the purpose of the proposal was to remove the word “Beginning” from the course titles in order to offer better clarity for students when selecting a foreign language sequence.

A vote was taken and the motion carries.

4. Proposal 2015-20: Medical Assisting (5648) (PSAV) Program and Course Modifications Presented by IPM Lenora Bodway on behalf of Professor Marie Harper i. A motion to discuss and vote on the proposal was made by Melanie Ferren and seconded Rachelle Wadsworth.

IPM Lenora Bodway Professor stated the purpose of the proposal was to replace originally approved proposal 2014-61 in order to align the program with the new FLDOE standards. IPM Bodway clarified the FLDOE increased the number of courses within the program from 7 to 10 beginning with the fall academic year. She further stated that in order for students to complete coursework in a timely manner without a significant impact to financial aid, modifications were made to offer smaller courses spread over the same amount of time.

A vote was taken and the motion carries. 2. Proposal 2015-21: Proposal 2015-21: Converged Communications (T400) (B.S.) Course Modifications

Presented by Dean, John Fields on behalf of Professor Isaac Brown and Professor Claire Rhodes

i. A motion to discuss and vote on the proposal was made by Melanie Ferren and seconded Sheri Litt.

Dean John Fields stated the purpose of the proposal was to remove duplicative courses and streamline concerns evening and/or working students were experiencing with internships. The advisory committee was in full support of the modifications to the program.

Professor Erick Aguilar suggested an amendment to correct the typo on page 5 which references MAN 3420 and correct to MAN 4320.

Chair John Woodward asked what additional courses were added to the program. Dean John Fields responded by stating that following discussion with the advisory committee, the courses added to the program were Civic Engagement, Global Communications and Video Storytelling.

A vote was taken to approve the proposal as amended and the motion carries.

III. INFORMATION ITEMS 1. ASE 0050 – Functional Skills (AWD) – Adding Suffix X, Y, Z to compensate for 16 and 8 week courses based on faculty work load points

IV. ADJOURN 1. A motion to adjourn was made by Marilyn Metchzer-Smith and seconded by Rachelle Wadsworth. The meeting was adjourned at 3:05 p.m.
