Guidelines for Retail Websites

Guidelines for Retail Websites

The guidelines are published by Fiat Group Automobiles South Africa and Chrysler Group South Africa (‘the Group’). They are designed to assist Fiat and Chrysler Group dealers in having their own websites meeting certain minimum compliance standards.

Best Practice for Retail Websites:  The dealer website identification through a logo or text should be at least equal in size (width, height) to any brand logo if they appear on the same page.  Be consistent with a chosen “Look and Feel” throughout the website to make it identifiable as the dealers web presence.  Do not try and copy complete sections of the Group’s websites into a dealer site. They have their own unique styles, fonts and site navigation, which may make the dealer site to look untidy and difficult to navigate.  Stick to what is important and value adding to your business. Do not indulge in adding detailed product pages; they often need to be changed.  Provide deep-links to Group pages, which are of common interest, e.g. product pages, catalogues or pricelists.  Provide links to respective Group brand websites and social media pages.

Size of brand logos  All brand logos must be of similar size, no single brand logo may be of a dominant size over the others.  Spacing between the brand logos must be uniform.  The aspect ratio must be maintained when resizing (no distortion).  Brand logos may not be displayed immediately next to a dealer logo, a spacing of twice the width or height of the dealer or brand logo should be adhered to.  Brand logos may not be superimposed over other images (unless it can be interpreted as being part of such image) and should be preferably shown on neutral (white) background.

Recommended Practises General:  A dealer website must be clearly identifiable as such in the ‘About’ or ‘Contact’ section.  It is the dealer’s responsibility to ensure that all content received/downloaded from the Group or their agents is authentic with the current range of models available. Any updates necessary must be performed within the shortest possible time frame.  Any terms and conditions which may apply for the use of a dealer’s website must be clearly visible. This is also applicable for any financial or other special or campaigns, which are offered, time-restricted. Failure in Compliance If a dealer website is found not to be in compliance, in particular with requirements relating to the display of brand logos and/or not allowed practises, the dealer will be requested to make all necessary amendments within an agreed time.
