POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Director of Sales & Resident Services FLSA: Exempt REPORTS TO: Executive Director

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: An employee in this position is responsible for the sales process of the community as well as assisting with marketing efforts. Also the planning, organization and administration of the resident activity program. This position also supports the front desk operations and other resident service areas as assigned by the Director. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Develop, implement and maintain a resident centered activity program focusing on the physical/mental, social/recreational, intellectual/educational, creative/spiritual, health/wellness, and personal growth aspects of the residents of the community; monitor existing activity programs to ensure a program that is supportive of the resident’s individual needs, interests and capabilities and offers diversification and interaction; design programs/activities to encourage socialization, provide entertainment, relaxation, fulfillment and improve daily living skills. 2. Schedule and coordinate special events, group activities/outings and entertainment to meet the diverse interest of the residents of the community; coordinate projects and programs with other local community organizations/agencies. 3. Communicate community philosophy and policies/procedures of the community’s activity program to new residents and their representatives; interview new residents to fully understand their interests, hobbies, needs, special characteristics and physical/mental abilities to enhance the activity program experience for each new resident and provide a secure foundation for their transition to the community. 4. Produce weekly activity calendars posted in a common area of the community reflecting scheduled activities, outings, special events, entertainment; maintain a community bulletin board area that is updated regularly with information and happenings in the community. 5. Communicate with and direct appropriate community staff in the execution of scheduled activities, outings, special events, group activities; supervise volunteers for activity programs; plan, coordinate and oversee volunteer scheduling and maintain appropriate records 6. Maintain community’s website and Facebook sites with current information, events & photos. 7. Organize, maintain and purchase supplies, materials and equipment related to activities and special events in the community; maintain records and files on resident activities and special events. 8. Assist the front desk supervisor in completion of their job responsibilities as necessary or assigned. 9. Develop and maintain an open relationship with residents of the community through regular interaction, encourage and support residents with their involvement in the community; manage difficult and emotional resident situations in a calm manner; recognize when a situation requires intervention/assistance; respond promptly to a resident’s need/concern. 10. Lead the sales function for the community, giving tours and presenting the communities sales presentation, following up on inquiries, tracking inquiry information, coordinating resident “move- in” documentation and “move-in” process. Coordinate with Executive Director marketing ideas and assist Executive Director with ongoing marketing efforts. 11. Function as contact person for community’s entertainment & special events and ensure services are provided as contracted. 12. Network in community areas pertaining to senior industry and resident services; understand and use senior resources for support and assistance of community residents. 13. Awareness of general safety, environmental and infection control procedures; knowledge of community’s Disaster Manual and Safety Data Sheets (SDS), familiar with (PPE) Personal Protective Equipment and universal precautions relating to OSHA Blood-borne Pathogen Standard. 14. Excellent attendance, timeliness in reporting to work, and discussion of all absences, injuries and illnesses with Executive Director; attendance at professional seminars and community activities. 15. Perform other related duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIRMENTS - KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES 1. Ability to perform necessary functions and job responsibilities of the front desk and activity staff of the community; ability to drive multi-passenger vehicle safely and appropriately through the use of defensive driving techniques. 2. Knowledge of senior activity program planning, conducting group activities, activity resources and assisted living principles. 3. Friendly, courteous manner; energetic, enthusiastic and outgoing individual; musical and creative skills, (e.g. arts, crafts); highly motivated, compassionate and patient, sense of humor; excellent communication skills to direct activity program to range of residents with varying degrees of abilities. 4. Knowledge of computer PC operations and software e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc 5. Ability to be flexible, solve problems/conflicts in a sensitive and calm manner, act independently and carry out oral and/or written instructions; ability to react quickly and decisively in the event of an emergency. 6. Ability to provide written short and long term goals designed to achieve department goals; good organizational and prioritization skills. 7. Present an open, positive and professional image by displaying general warmth and kindness in a friendly, courteous and respectful manner; compassion and affinity for seniors regarding their well- being including the ability to maintain appropriate conduct and attitude; demonstrate an appreciation of the heritage and an understanding of residents’ rights, the aging process and diseases of the elderly. 8. Display honesty, integrity, dependability and ability to work as a team member, possess good interpersonal skills and maintain a positive attitude toward employment; able to communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality of employee and resident information in compliance with HIPPA regulations. 9. Reliable transportation to work with flexibility to work on any day of the week, any designated shift. 10. Ability to identify own personal strengths and weaknesses and discuss with supervision. 11. Satisfactory references, background check, drug screen, pre-employment physical and current PPD (or chest x-ray) for tuberculosis. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

. Bachelor or Associates degree in Business/Sales or related field. . Must possess and maintain a safe driving record and valid driver’s license in the State of Michigan. . Previous supervisory experience including staff scheduling, inventory, supplies and labor cost control. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT 1. Work is performed in a residential community setting and outside the community while transporting residents to and from scheduled indoor/outdoor activities, subject to inclement weather; may require attendance at evening and/or weekend outings/events; high noise levels during activities, entertainment, and/or other events. 2. Speaking and hearing required to perform job responsibilities; reading/writing; understand directions and communicate verbally. 3. Specific vision abilities required by the transportation position including color, close and far vision acuity, depth perception and ability to adjust vision focus. 4. The employee must be in good physical health and have the ability to climb, balance, kneel, crouch, reach, walk-at least 3 miles/day, sit, lift, grasp, perform repetitive motions involving extensive bending/twisting-at least 25times/day, stooping, pushing, pulling, fingering, wrist motions and foot operations; ability to stand for an extended period of time without significant rest period; possess strength/stamina to lift more than 50lbs. with assist.
