Methacton Wrestling:

The wrestling team finished the season with a 16-7 record good for 5th in the PAC 10 and ranked #10 in District One. The team was champions at the Avon Grove Devil Duals in January. Some of the teams outstanding individuals were District One runner-up Mike Baccaro and District One runner-up Joe Staley along with District One and Southeast Region Champion Tracey Green. Devin Bradley also had a 30 win season and qualified for the District One West tournament.

Methacton Girls Swimming: Coach Yoder can’t say enough about how proud he is of all of the girls this year. From the very first team meeting, throughout the season, and all of the end-of-season competitions, the girls have performed exactly how they expected to and beyond!

The season started with a win at the Upper Merion Relay carnival. The regular season dual meets started out a little rough with the team swimming against 4 of the top 5 teams in district one. The girls beat Souderton, which has not been accomplished for quite some time. We started out our league schedule by beating Boyertown followed by Perk Valley. The girls knew that it would take an entire team effort to beat rival Owen J. Roberts. From the middle of the pool to lane 1, everyone needed to do their job, including diving, and they did just that. The Girls swam out of their minds! The girls won the meet bye just a few points, and the Owen J. meet proved to be the biggest hurdle of the season on their way to our first PAC-10 Championship and the girls first Championship of any kind since 1989. We finished the regular season with a two point victory at the Perk Valley Invitational. Congratulations on an amazing season girls.

However, the teams success was due in large part to a tremendous freshman class. State and National qualifiers include Griffin Bilicic and Zach Saunders. While other strong performances came from Jeff Kirshenbaum and Nick Shaffer. The team worked hard and is in a good position going into the spring season to compete for a PAC 10 championship.

In the final 100M, she found another gear, blew past Deacon and held off the rest of the field for a Gold Medal finish in the 800M in a time of 2:17.07. Sophomore Nicolette Serratore also had an outstanding meet. In her signature event, the triple jump, Serratore ousted all but one athlete to take home the silver medal in the event with a leap of 35' 8.75". She also placed 11th in the 60M Hurdles and 12th in the Long Jump. Senior Kristin Beatty vaulted her way to a bronze medal, going 10' 6" for the 3rd place finish. At the PA State Track and Field Championships, having her best meet of the season was sophomore Nicolette Serratore, who had 2 personal best performances. Methacton Boys Basketball:

The Methacton Boys Basketball team finished the regular season with an overall record of 19 wins and 3 losses, and a perfect league record of 13 wins and 0 losses. After suffering a tough 3-point loss to Perk Valley in the PAC-10 Championship game, the Warriors bounced back to win their first two PIAA District-1 playoff games against Bensalem and Souderton respectively. The win against Souderton clinched the program’s first ever trip to the PIAA State Tournament. The Warriors will travel to Dallastown High School to take on York High School in the first round of the State Tournament on Saturday, March 9th at 6:30 PM. In addition to the team’s success this season, there have been significant individual accomplishments as well. Brendan Casper reached the 1,000 point milestone in the win against Boyertown on February 2nd and was later named to the PAC-10 All- Conference, First Team, while Matt Forrest was named to the PAC-10 All-Conference, Second Team.

The success of this team is largely the result of strong leadership provided by Seniors Brendan Casper, Matt Forrest, Pat McCarthy, AJ Noblit, and Anthony O’Brien. Their hard work over the past four years has provided a great example for the young players coming up through the program. Furthermore, the dedication and commitment each player has made to the off-season training program, has paid off in many ways during the season. The guys have demonstrated confidence and kept their composure in pressure situations, finding a way to win many close games. Finally, the 2012-2013 Warriors have proven that when hard work and enthusiasm are joined together, great things can be accomplished. Good luck in states!
