AM LIT/COMP

DIRECTIONS: Read over and carefully think about the following questions. Jot down your responses on the text (you can add your responses to your annotation total). After about 10 minutes of solo work, discuss with your group.

1. What are some of the benefits to social media? Make sure to explain what makes it beneficial from your viewpoint.

2. How important for general well-being are relationships with other people? Discuss why.

3. What are some of the dangers that social networking poses to relationships according to Wong and Seppala? Discuss any experiences you have had that support what they write about (direct or indirect experiences).

4. Which is more desirable in a partner, one who is very interested in you or one who is “all about” his/herself? Discuss why.

5. Seppala writes that social media is “self-absorbing”. How much time do you spend each day on social media sites? What could this indicate about you? If you are without your phone or device, how do you feel? Discuss the implications of your answer to these questions.

6. Comment on the poem Look Up. Identify the primary theme of the piece.

7. Identify the theme consistent among the two articles you annotated. 8. Based on your reading and your discussion today, draw a conclusion on what you learned.
