Take Home Folders and Planners

In order to keep track of homework papers and important information, each child will be using a “Take Home Folder” containing two pockets. The front pocket is labeled “Keep at Home” and will be used to hold papers that DO NOT need to be returned to school. Please empty this pocket daily to keep papers from accumulating there. The back pocket is labeled “Back to School” and anything sent home in this pocket should be completed and SENT BACK the next day unless otherwise specified. Please send absence/tardy notes in the “Back to School” pocket so that I can send those to the office.

Your child will also be responsible for brining his/her planner to school each day. This planner is a place for correspondence between you and me. If you have questions or concerns about your child, please write them next to the current date in the planner. I will respond as soon as possible.

In addition to teacher-parent communication, your child’s planner will also be used to show your child’s daily behavior. Each day, your child will receive a colored apple stamp to show what color apple he/she landed on. This will give you a good idea of how your child’s day went at a quick glance. Please initial your child’s planner every night so I can be sure that you have seen your child’s behavior for the day as well as any notes I may have written. Also, please move the black clip every Friday after school to the next week in the planner. This helps your child a great deal in finding the correct date each day in class!

It is my expectation that this folder and planner will aid in parent-teacher communication and help us work together to assist your child in having a successful and enjoyable year.
