HBMA Utilizes Smartphone App to Help Guide Attendees At

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HBMA utilizes smartphone app to help guide attendees at its Annual Fall Conference in Las Vegas

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. — September 8, 2011 — The Healthcare Billing & Management Association (HBMA), a non-profit educational resource and advocacy group representing third-party medical billers and practice management billing professionals, today announced that it has partnered with Portland, Ore.-based CrowdCompass to develop a smartphone app to guide attendees at its Annual Fall Conference. The HBMA Annual Fall Conference 2011 App puts all event information – including schedules, sessions, maps, contacts, speakers and exhibitors – right into attendees’ hands via their BlackBerries, iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches. Attendees will have free access to this custom-built app, beginning with the association’s 2011 Fall Conference, which will be held at The Bellagio Las Vegas, Sept. 14-16, 2011.

“HBMA attendees and exhibitors have always been tech-savvy, and increasingly they’ve been relying on the use of smartphones and other devices to stay in touch with their business back at the office,” says Brad Lund, executive director, HBMA. “Partnering with CrowdCompass, a leader in developing event apps, was a great solution for us as we continually work to enhance the conference experience for all event participants.”

The HBMA Annual Fall Conference 2011 App can be downloaded on iTunes and will allow HBMA to provide real-time session and event notifications to attendees anytime before, during and after the event. In addition, attendees will be able to communicate with others directly within the application, creating a broader community beyond those actually attending the conference.

“We’re very pleased to have been selected by HBMA and are confident that the association’s members will find that the new application adds tremendous value to each conference,” said Tom Kingsley, CEO of CrowdCompass. “Users of the HBMA Annual Fall Conference 2011 App will now have immediate access to speaker bios, venue maps and other information. And, because the app is native to each device, it is easy to use, fast and works even when not connected to the internet. Everything the user needs including access to social media and external websites is provided within the app so the users do not have to lose their place and fumble switching between multiple apps to get the information they need.”

HBMA’s Fall Conference will feature three full days of educational sessions, legislative insights and networking opportunities for the medical billing community. HBMA educational conferences are open to anyone interested in learning more about the healthcare revenue cycle process.
