WRIA 8 Salmon Recovery Council Duties of Leadership Positions
Co-Chairs:
Duties: Lead the WRIA 8 Salmon Recovery Council (4-5 meetings per year). Confer with members of the WRIA 8 Salmon Recovery Council between regular meetings on significant issues that require a timely response. Confer with the WRIA 8 Watershed Coordinator on agenda development and issues of the WRIA 8 Salmon Recovery Council. Provide advance notice to the WRIA 8 Watershed Coordinator and Co- Chair if unable to attend an upcoming meeting. At least one co-chair should serve on the WRIA 8 Management Committee. Sign letters or statements agreed to by the WRIA 8 Salmon Recovery Council.

WRIA 8 Representative to the Puget Sound Salmon Recovery Council
Duties: Attend Puget Sound Salmon Recovery Council meetings and advocate for funding and policies that support WRIA 8 Plan implementation (meetings are monthly). Confer with WRIA 8 staff and members of the WRIA 8 Salmon Recovery Council between regular meetings on significant issues that require a timely response.
Members that have expressed interest to date: Councilmember Don Davidson (Bellevue) who currently represents WRIA 8 at Puget Sound Salmon Recovery Council. WRIA 8 Management Committee
WRIA 8 Interlocal Agreement (ILA) states that the parties to the ILA shall choose among its members, five elected officials or their designees, to serve as a Management Committee. Representatives of the Fiscal Agent and Service Provider may serve as non- voting ex officio members.
Duties per the ILA: “…to oversee and direct the funds and personnel contributed under this Agreement, in accordance with the adopted annual budget and such other directions as may be provided by the party members of the WRIA 8 Salmon Recovery Council.”
“…shall act as an executive subcommittee of the WRIA 8 Salmon Recovery Council, responsible for oversight and evaluation of any Service Providers or consultants, for administration of the budget, and for providing recommendations on administrative matters to the WRIA 8 Salmon Recovery Council for action…”
Historic Makeup of Management Committee: The WRIA 8 Forum was interested in having the Management Committee represent the diversity of local governments that are parties to the ILA. Therefore membership included both large and small jurisdictions as well as jurisdictions from the different geographic areas of the watershed.
