SIUC Greenhand Workshop

Southern Illinois University is pleased to announce this year’s Greenhand Workshop. The workshop will be held at SIU Carbondale on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 with registration beginning at 5:00 pm in the foyer of the AG building. The opening ceremony/pizza will begin at 5:30 pm in Muckelroy Auditorium (AG 102).

Registration fee will again be $3.00 to cover the cost of materials and pizza for students. To expedite registration, a pre-registration form is attached. If you pre-register by Friday, September 24, cost per student will be reduced to $2.00. Payment MUST be included with pre-registration. If pre-payment is not included, you will be charged $3.00 per student at the door.

Awards will be given in two areas this year. The first award is the chapter T-shirt award. FFA Chapters are asked to wear their Chapter FFA T-Shirts. A panel of judges will judge the t-shirts and an award will be given for the top t-shirt design. We will also be awarding the chapter with the most FFA members in attendance.

This year, the FFA is providing pizza and drinks for all students. Ag teachers are invited to snacks in the romper room and attend the FCAE/SIU Advisory Council in room 209. Meal will begin at 5:30.

There will be four small group sessions:

What Blue Can Do For YOU! – presented by CFFA Members FFA members will learn about the different trips they can take through the FFA including Washington Leadership Conference, Illinois State Leadership Camp, Made For Excellence, Heritage Trip, Co-Op Trip, National Convention, and State Convention.

Working in Diversity - presented by MANNRS This workshop is designed to get students to think outside of their schools and their comfort zones and prepare you for a world of diversity!

Ag Industry? A Place for Me? – presented by State PAS Officers There are THOUSANDS of Agricultural Careers to choose from. Through this session FFA members will be introduced to a wide spectrum of agricultural careers.

Leadership Construction – presented by State Reporter, Morgan Ott Learn to be a leader and work as a team. Through this workshop, FFA members will play fun games that encourage them to construct leadership in themselves and others and work as a team.
