Profile

Rallis India Limited has been the undisputed leader in the Indian Agrochemicals market for more than a decade. It is a 900 Crore Company, having a significant presence in the Agrochemicals, Fine Chemicals and Export Sectors and employee strength of around 1700.

Areas of business

Agrochemicals Division

This division deals in pesticides, fertilizers, micronutrients, and seeds. It has one of the most extensive distribution networks in the Indian agro industry, with over 80 per cent penetration of the country’s districts. Highly experienced sales managers, field officers and field assistants man the regional offices.

The company is one of the largest Indian pesticides manufacturers, with 05 factories having a combined capacity of around 30,000 tonnes per annum of technical grade pesticides. The company’s product range includes insecticides, fungicides, herbicides and intermediates.

Fine Chemicals Division

The division has been a market leader in gelatin for the last three decades, catering to the pharmaceuticals, photography, food and match industries. The animal feed industry as a feed supplement for poultry and cattle uses a by- product of gelatin manufacturing, namely phosphoryl. The company’s gelatin plant at Ooty employs technology licensed by Russelot, France, and has ISO 9002 certification. The company is also the leading manufacturer and distributor of vegetable tanning materials, fat liquors, enzymes and a variety of finishing chemicals for the leather tanning industry.

Research & Development

The company has gone a long way since it’s inspection. A significant investment has been made in research and development and it has established an internationally renowned Research & Development Centre in Bangalore, India. It is India’s foremost toxicology and entomology research center. It focuses on toxicology studies and development of new molecule. It conducts studies on bio-efficacy, residue-fate, analytical & products chemistry, ecotoxicology, teratology, mutagenity and regulatory toxicology. Its dedicated analytical laboratory catering to the requirement of synthesis work, is equipped with various sophisticated gadgets.

The toxicology, Analytical Chemistry facilities and research protocols at RRC have received GLP certification from German Health Ministry. (BGVV) and W&V of Netherlands. Registration authorities of advanced countries round the world have accepted toxicology study reports prepared by the Centre.

International Business

Rallis also has significant strengths in international market through its International Business Division. This division is today firmly entrenched in the competitive, generic pesticide segments of the developed markets of Europe, Australia and some Asian countries. It is gradually enhancing its presence in North America and Africa.

Rallis’s forays into knowledge services and toll manufacturing are also being given greater thrust in all international markets and are fully supported by a strong R&D in India.
