Subscriptions are fixed by Headquarters and for 2015 £64 for each member, £64 for the second member. For three or more members in the same family the subscription will be £160 for the whole family. Your subscription includes third party insurance. GIFT AID add £14.10 per member, a proportion of which goes to the Branch, which we can deduct before payment the Capitation to Headquarters (as no cost to you) - which as you can see, adds considerably to the Branch’s finances if everyone who pays tax fills in this bit of the form. When you have paid your subscription you will be sent your membership card. PONY CLUB TEST TRAINING

Dress to work around horses and bring a notebook and pen. It is advisable to download the test syllabus and have a copy of the Manual of Horsemanship.

Blue Cross Horse & Pony Care Competition Georgie and Beth are looking for keen individuals aged of 13 and under, on 1st January 2015 to train and to go to the area horse and pony care competition. We hope training will be fun, friendships will be made and great team spirit formed. Georgie and Beth have taken part in teams that have ultimately qualified for the championships and have firsthand experience of how much fun they had going as a team and making lifelong friends. Practices will take place on a regular basis and a little bit of homework may be necessary. If you are enthusiatic, love horses and taking part in teams please contact Beth or Georgie. Practices will take place at Old Covert Farm, Mugginton Lane End, DE64PP.

Horse and Pony Care is an integral part of The Pony Club Championships held at Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire, and features Teams of three Pony Club Members who demonstrate their knowledge and practical horsemanship skills taken from The Pony Club Efficiency Test cards over a number of rounds. The 2015 Blue Cross Horse and Pony Care final will be on Saturday the 22nd August and Sunday the 23rd August. Junior teams to consist of three Members. Ages to be 13 years and under on the 1st January 2015, with one Members to be 11 years or under on the 1st January 2015.  Questions are based on the Horse and Pony Care section of the D to C level test cards (can be ordered through the shop or accessed on the Pony club website)  Examiners must be at least C+ test approved  Ponies should be under 14.2hh Senior and Junior teams will make their way around different ‘stations’, each of which will compromise of a different theory or practical based topic. Ten minutes are spent at each ‘station’, during which time you will be asked a series of questions to be marked by the examiner.

Emergency at Work First Aid Course ( EFAW) - 29th April and 6th May venue to be confirmed.

This course is a comprehensive first aid training course ideal for individuals who wish to know how to respond to emergency situations. The course will be held on 29th April & 6th May 7-10pm. We really would like to encourage people to take up this opportunity to train as our pony club needs more first aid volunteers to help with rallies /events.

Keith Sharman who will be running the course and has over 25 years of experience of first aid , his duties include being a first aider at various equestrian events where you may have come across him and also has over 15 year’s First aid teaching experience.

TETRATHLON

Do we have anyone interested in competing in Tetrathlon? This is such a friendly, fun competition. You don’t have to be good, just come along and have some fun. The first Tet of the season is on March 28th and 29th hosted by the Barlow at Osberton. Entries need to go to Sarah Mead 2 weeks before each event at the latest. There is a local qualified Triathlon coach who is doing childrens' swimming coaching 19.00 on a Wednesday evening at Waterhouses School, this will include running training also, when the weather gets warmer and the evenings lighter. Bingham Leisure Centre, near Nottingham have an excellent Pentathlon club, 5 Boroughs, which has very close links with the South Notts Pony Club. It is £5 for an annual membership and then you pay per session you go to. It’s on a Friday night 18.30. They do running first, followed by either shooting or fencing on alternate weeks. JUNIOR CAMP INFO...

How quickly it comes around!! We just thought it might be useful to give you the dates and information about Junior Camp so you can plan your summers... Once again we are lucky enough to be able to hold camp at Dunstall Hall, thanks to the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Clarke to whom we extend our thanks.

A plan of the week The week will be pretty much as last year with the possibility of Mini Campers joining us again depending on numbers of entries, so it would help us greatly if you could look out for the forms on the website and let us know as soon as you can if you are planning to attend either Mini or Junior. We are arranging some demonstrations to replace some of the afternoon dismounted games sessions, these will hopefully include The Meynell Hounds and a mounted fancy dress, along with a squadron quiz and the opportunity to achieve some badges. We will run a fund raising event during camp to cover the cost of the badges. We will also be giving you the opportunity to take Pony Club Tests and possibly the Road Rider Safety Badge, (now required in order to progress through your tests) Instead of a sleep over this year we are opening the One Day Event, (which will be held on the Sunday, including the dressage test) to other branches and non- members. This will give you all the opportunity to see how an ODE runs whilst still giving our members the help and support they are used to. The members will still compete in the same classes as usual we will just be adding more classes on at the end of the day. Organizer Jill Williamson 07788 423 171 This Camp is for both lead rein and novice members. The cost will be £75.00 per child. This will include three days of tuition and one day of competition. For those interested this year we are running four full days to enable the children involved to get more from the experience. During their time at camp the children will have the opportunity to do flatwork and basic dressage, small show jumps and cross country, mounted and dismounted games, musical ride handy pony and treasure hunt – learning to care for their ponies and ride in a safe and friendly environment whilst having fun and making friends. The rides are planned so that all the children can attain a real sense of confidence and achievement with lots of prizes and rosettes available on competition day.
