Independent Men’s Association Minutes from the Meeting held on: January 29, 2000
President Jon Stowell called the meeting to order at 5:15 p.m. Attendance was taken, 20 members were in attendance
The order of business was presented by President Stowell, which included: 1. Election of a secretary 2. Election of a treasurer 3. Announcements
The floor was opened for nominations for secretary. The nominees were: Bryan Gonzales Justin Killian Jeremy Vaughn
Each candidate gave a brief speech, which included questions by the club members. They were dismissed and the club members voted. Justin Killian was elected.

Then President Jon Stowell presented a list of announcements and visions he had for the upcoming semester. Items such as the budget, new methods of funding the IMA, a faculty dinner, a IMA/ faculty cocktail hour, an IMA newsletter, Honors Scholar activities, and amendments to the constitution were all discussed.
Johnny Warren and Matt Abid agreed to contact the Admissions/Deans office concerning Honors Scholar activities. The idea of having a cook out was discussed. Also, the group expressed the desire to get a jousting pit and host prospective students in various independent living units.
The idea of formulating various committees to head up the budget, funding, newsletter, and Honors Scholar were discussed. It was thought that the treasurer would head up the budget committee. Doug Springer addressed the group about concerns for a new IM representative. The club agreed to formulate an application and then hold interviews for the position at the next meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 6:45 P.M.
