Format & Rules: ~ BCSSA rules apply ~ Championship finals (1st - 6th) will be swum ~ Relays and Div 9 (6 & Under) will be timed finals ~ There will be no DQ’s for the 6 & Under athletes ~ No false start rule is in effect. Should a false start occur the race will continue and the swimmer will be disqualified at the end of the race. ~ Marshalling rules: it is the swimmers’ responsibility to be in the marshalling area on time. Any calls by the announcer over the P.A. system are courtesy calls only. A swimmer who misses the “final call” in marshalling will not be allowed to swim. Only coaches and parents or older siblings of younger swimmers (6 & U’s and Div 1’s) will be allowed in the marshalling area. Division 4 and older will be self-marshalled. ~ Because serious injury can occur, all loose fitting jewelry must be removed before events. Tightly fitting “Swim Strong” bands will be permitted around the wrists or ankles as well as ear or nose studs.

Overnight Parking & Tenting: ~ CWK Senior Secondary is being rebuilt! This will affect our swim meet but we are confident that we can still run a successful meet. The major change will be for those camping overnight: there will be no parking of RVs at the rear of the school but the lot at the front of the school, accessed off of Yale Road, is available to us and should be sufficient. We have been assured that the side lot nearest to the pool, reached via Reece Avenue, will remain open for use as in past years. A $10 fee will be charged for all wheeled camping units. ~ Please provide your own power as we are not allowed to use power from the school buildings. ~ Security will be on duty during the evenings; the pool washrooms will be open during the night. ~ Tenting: due to the construction we have lost much of the available green space for tenting. Do not set up tents inside the track oval! Tents will have to be erected on the grassy areas

6&U teams may be made up of girls & boys. 6&U’s will only swim a 100m freestyle relay on Sunday.

Day Time Parking: limited parking is available in the pool lot. Ensure that parking is allowed on any side street spot you find before leaving your vehicle. Please note that there is no parking allowed on Reece Avenue between the high school and Williams Road. Your car will be towed if you park there! There is plenty of parking available on the north side of the school’s running track: from Yale Road turn left on Williams and proceed past Reece Avenue. Turn right on Portage Avenue. Please park at an ANGLE to maximize the available space. To access the pool cross the running track to locate the hole in the fence specially cut for this auspicious occasion!

Goody bags are given out to the 6&U swimmers rather than place ribbons.

Aggregates: Individual top aggregate awards for Divs 1-7, including “O Cat” divisions, provided that there are 3 or more swimmers from a division entered in at least 3 events. Special,Most Prestigious Award for 2011!!!

~ As you know, swimmers earn points for their club by placing in the top 12. This year a new wrinkle is being introduced: swimmers earn team points only when they equal or better their best time (BT). ~Relays will not be participating in this part of the competition. ~ Points earned will be divided by the total number of swimmers entered to determine which team has earned the greatest number of BT Points per registered athlete. ~ To encourage the scratching of swimmers who register but do not attend the meet, a penalty of -4 points will be assigned for each NS swimmer.

A SPECIAL MYSTERY PRIZE WILL BE AWARDED TO THE WINNING TEAM!

(as of publication, the Stingrays are unsure if this prize will be awarded at the conclu- sion of this meet or if it will be presented at the Abbotsford meet the following week)

For clarification: this competition will not affect a swimmer’s individual results/place- ment/awards in any way. For example, if a swimmer places fourth in a race but does not set a BT, she will still earn individual points and will still receive a fourth place ribbon for her achievement. Her team, however, will not receive any fourth place points due to the fact that the swimmer failed to swim a new BT.
