Make It Fun

Prepare to offer one or more of the following activities as your 2-year-olds arrive. Let one or two teachers lead small groups of children in activities throughout the room while another teacher greets parents and kids at the door. At this age not all children will participate, but most will want to be part of the fun.

1. Where Is Your Nose? “Where Is Your Nose?” is an activity that uses gross motor movements to introduce today’s Bible story.

What You Need: No supplies needed

What You Do: During the Activity: Call out different body parts and tell children to point to them as you say “Where is your …?” (Suggested body parts: Head, shoulders, nose, knee, elbow, tummy, ears, eyes, mouth, neck, feet.)

What You Say: During the Activity: “Where is your head? (Pause.) Where are your shoulders?” (Pause.)

After the Activity: “Great job, everyone! We’re going to hear all about how God made PEOPLE in our Bible story today.”

2. Where Is … “Where Is …” is an activity that uses music to introduce today’s Bible story.

What You Need: No supplies needed

What You Do: During the Activity: Sing the following lyrics to the tune of “Where is Thumbkin” as the children point to the child you are singing about. Make sure you go around the circle and name each child.

What You Say: During the Activity: “Let’s sing this together. ‘Where is [child’s name]? Where is [child’s name]? Here she is. Here she is. God made [child’s name]. God made [child’s name]. Yes, He did. Yes, He did.’” (Repeat with each child’s name.)

After the Activity: “Great singing, everyone! I’m so glad that God made each one of you. We’ll talk more about all that God made in our Bible story today.”

Make It True

After children have participated in Make It Fun, encourage the kids to have fun singing with you and then tell the Bible story.

When sharing the Bible story, guide kids to gather around you on the floor. Some kids (especially the younger ones) may wander. That’s okay. They’re still listening and learning!

Worship For additional worship resources to equip your worship leaders and worship team, visit www.amberskyrecords.com.

What You Need: A music player; this month’s worship song, “Everything (God Made) Part 2,” downloaded from the Web site; and the motions for the song.

WORSHIP LEADER: “I am so happy to see you today! I am really excited that God made everything. What's your favorite thing God made? (Pause.) Awesome! Let's sing a fun song together!

Lead children in singing “Everything (God Made) Part 2.”

“Great singing, everyone! Do you know that God made everything? God made you, and [Basic Truth] God made me. He did! Now let's get ready to hear about even more things God made!”

Bible Story What You Need for the Month: Each week during July, you will be introducing a day of Creation using a train theme. You can make the engine and cars of your train out of different colors of poster board, or you can use artwork that we provide to cut out the shape of your train engine and the cars that will follow it.

You should start with the engine and the previous train cars already attached to the wall. Then you will add on train cars each week so that, by the end of the series, you will have a complete train on your wall. You will need a volunteer Small Group Leader who can come in at the appropriate time during the story with that week’s train car and attach it to the wall. You may also download some free train sound effects at www.soundbible.com that you can use as the train car enters each week.

Once the train car is attached, you will be attaching different die cuts to the car to represent that particular day of Creation. You will need to keep these concealed until the appropriate time in the story.

What You Need: “Car 6b” and “Hearts” from the Activity Pages on the Website, white and red cardstock, and a Bible (Optional: heart die cuts)

STORYTELLER: “Good morning, everybody! It’s such a fantastic day! I have a wonderful story to tell you today. It’s a true story from the Bible. (Hold up your Bible.) It’s the story of how God created the world!

“We are going to do something so fun to help us learn all about this. We are going to call our special train to come show us what else God made on Day Six. We got a car for Day Six last week, but we get an extra car for Day Six today because God made something even more special than animals on Day Six!

“Remember, when I say, ‘All aboard,’ I want you to say, ‘Toot! Toot!’ Are you ready? All aboard! (Pause.) All aboard! (Pause.)

(Start playing train sound effects.)

(Excitedly) “Oh, I hear the train! It’s coming! (Cup your ear and lean to the side, as if listening.) It’s pulling into the station!

“Now it’s time to hear more about … the sixth day of Creation! (As you are saying this, have the volunteer bring the next train car in and stick it on the wall.)

“Wow! It worked! Great job, everyone! What’s the number on this car? (Pause.) It’s the same as the number on the car before it, isn’t it? It’s the number six.

“But wait a minute! Where are the animals? They must be behind these shades. And wait a minute! What is in these top windows now? (Pause.) What do they have to do with creation? I’ll look in the Bible! (Open Bible and look in it.)

“It’s people! The Bible says that on Day Six, after God made animals, He made people! [Bottom Line] God made everything.

“God made us! He made me, and He made you. And do you know what? Of all the things God made, He loves us the most. You and me and our moms and dads—He made all of us, and He loves us SO MUCH! In fact, I’m going to add some hearts to our car to show that He loves us the most! I’ll put a heart here … and a heart here. I have to put lots and lots of hearts because He loves us so much!

“Isn’t it so cool that God made us? He made me, and He made you. God made people! Look at the people on our train. There are old people and young people. There are all kinds of people! God made people to be the best of all!

“God made the people that live near your house and the people all the way across the world. Turn to someone next to you, give them a high five, and say, ‘God made you!’ (Pause as kids give high fives and say, ‘God made you!’ to each other.)

“God made people so special. He started with just one man and one woman. Then He made every single other person who has ever lived. And He made us all so that we can know Him and talk to Him and spend time with Him!

“On Day Six, God made people. [Bottom Line] God made everything! Who made everything?”

CHILDREN and STORYTELLER: [Bottom Line] “God (point both arms straight up) made everything!” (Spread arms out wide.)

STORYTELLER: “That’s fantastic! Say it with me one more time. Who made everything?”

CHILDREN and STORYTELLER: [Bottom Line] “God (point both arms straight up) made everything!” (Spread arms out wide.)

STORYTELLER: “That’s exactly right! [Bottom Line] God made everything! God made you, and [Basic Truth] God made me, too. Let’s pray together and thank God for creating such good things!

“Dear God, thank You for all that You have created. We know You made us and all the people around us. Thank You for creating all of the people in the whole world! You are so incredible! We love You, God! Amen.”

Make It Stick

Choose two or more of the following activities to help make the Bottom Line stick. Lead the activities with small groups of children. Encourage children to play on their own if they do not wish to take part in an activity.

1. God Made “God Made” is an activity that uses large motor skills and repetition to teach the Bible verse.

What You Need: A baby doll

What You Do: Before the Activity: Sit with the children in a circle.

During the Activity: Pass the baby doll as you recite the memory verse.

After the Activity: Repeat several times.

What You Say: Before the Activity: “What did we learn today that God did on Day Six of Creation? (Pause.) God made people! He made you and you and you and me! (Point to children when you say ‘you’ and then point to yourself when you say ‘me.’) God made ALL of us! Do you remember what our memory verse is?” (Pause and celebrate if any of the children answer.)

During the Activity: “As we say our memory verse, let’s pass the baby doll. When it comes to you, give it a great big hug and then pass it on. ‘You made the world and everything in it,’ Psalm 89:11.” (Keep repeating the verse and passing the doll until each child has had a chance to hold and hug the baby.)

After the Activity: “Who made everything? [Bottom Line] God made everything.”

2. Creation Station

“Creation Station” is an activity that provides a visual for the children to review the Bible story.

Note: This activity is to be used as a large visual for the children. There are many options that can be used. The Activity Page can be printed as an 8.5x11, 11x17, poster size, or train cars can be created with shoeboxes. The larger your class size, the larger your visual should be. If you choose to make the train cars out of shoeboxes, simply print the Activity Page on an 8.5x11 page and attach it to the bottom of the shoebox so that the bottom of the train car touches the floor when the shoebox is placed on its side. It is ideal to keep the train car that you build with the children each week in June and July so that you can display the entire train during Bible Story Review. If that is not possible, consider displaying the train car you complete each week in the hallway for parents to see that day. If you are choosing to connect the train cars from week to week, cut a small piece of yarn and tape it between the cars as you add one.

What You Need: “Train Car Review” from the Activity Pages on the Website, appropriate size white paper for your choice of train car (see above), small gingerbread people cutouts, and clear tape

What You Do: Before the Activity: Make the train car that you have chosen. Print the Activity Page on the appropriate size paper. Cut out around the train car and tape it to the wall or teaching board. If you are using the shoebox, glue or tape the train car to the bottom of the shoebox.

During the Activity: Have all of the children sit in front of the train car. Remind the children that God made people. Have the children come up in small groups, and help them use them tape the gingerbread cutouts to the train car.

After the Activity: Briefly retell the Bible story using the train car as a visual.

What You Say: Before the Activity: “We are going to make another train car today. God made people. He made you (point to a child) and you (point to another child) and you (point to another child). He made EVERYONE!”

During the Activity: “Our train is empty (point). We need to place people on our train. (Hold up cutouts.) Here are some people! Now come up here and we can fill our train with people!” (Help kids attach cutouts to train.)

After the Activity: “In our story today, we learned that God made people. He made all of us special. [Bottom Line] God made everything! Who made everything? [Bottom Line] God made everything!”

3. Hokey Pokey “Hokey Pokey” is an activity that uses music and movement to review today’s Bible story.

What You Need: No supplies needed

What You Do: During the Activity: Stand in a circle as you sing and do the “Hokey Pokey.”

What You Say: Before the Activity: “The stories in the Bible are amazing! I’m so glad to learn about all the things God made. I’m so glad He made you and me! [Bottom Line] God made everything. Who made everything? [Bottom Line] God made everything

During the Activity: “What did God make on Day Six? He made people. He made us with arms and legs and all kinds of great stuff. God made our awesome bodies. Let's play a game that uses our bodies. Let’s do the ‘Hokey Pokey’ and shake all of us about!” (Do the “Hokey Pokey.”)

After the Activity: “We shook our left hands and our right hands. We shook our left legs and our right legs. We even put our fronts and our backs in. Did you know that God made every single part of us? [Bottom Line] God made everything. Who made everything? [Bottom Line] God made everything.”

Get Ready to Dismiss Set any take-home creations where you or parents can get them easily. Greet parents at the door and tell them that this month preschoolers are learning that [Bottom Line] God made EVERYTHING. Encourage parents to repeat the Bottom Line at home and help their child understand that [Bottom Line] God made EVERYTHING. Have this month’s Parent CUE available for parents to pick up or send it in a monthly email. Encourage parents to use the activities found in Parent CUE to reinforce this month’s Bottom Line: [Bottom Line] God made EVERYTHING.
